BayCalif-Ariz R Us Posted August 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2012 This pertains just to the PRINCESS ships. It's been nearly 2 years since we've cruised and back then Princess was very flexible about bringing wine on board - either when you board or picking up a bottle or two at ports. I know this is a subject that has been covered many times but couldn't find a recent thread on it. Question is: has anyone had recent experience bringing wine or other spirits on board a Princess ship (we're on the Grand next March) or do they automatically confiscate them and return them at end of cruise:mad: Thanks - Didi
Mary Ellen Posted August 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2012 As you want information specific for Princess ships, wouldn't this question be better asked on the PRINCESS forum rather than here on the general 'Ask a Cruise Question' forum?
BayCalif-Ariz R Us Posted August 15, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted August 15, 2012 Well yes, Mary Ellen. While I used to know my way around Cruise Critic like a pro I find it is no longer the case. I will try to find that Princess Forum; I just thought if some kind soul COULD answer the question here they would.

5326jan Posted August 16, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2012 Last time I was on Princess was in March and they were very flexible about how much wine could be brought on. We brought 3 bottles plus a Black Box.
dread_pirate Posted August 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2012 I just got off the Coral Princess. We brought on two bottles of wine. No issues, no one said anything, and our steward brought us wine glasses.
kat1007 Posted August 25, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2012 We were on Caribbean Princess a month ago we took a bottle of champagne 2 bottles of wine a bottle of gin and a bottle of whisky with no problem. The room steward got us wine glasses and you get ice every day anyway, We didn't use up all the spirits but we did drink the wine and the champagne on the balcony pre dinner. We didn't take anything on board at the ports because we were in Norway and Iceland where the price of alcohol is  Hope that helps;)
Putterdude Posted August 25, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2012 There is always some conjecture as to how much wine Princess allows. The passage contract does not limit the quantity however their policy states 1 bottle per person ...... so which document has priority is always the question. Many, many people have posted that they have brought a case of wine, slapped a luggage tag on it and it has been delivered to their cabin without question and I have never heard of Princess taking wine from people. Princess tends to be very liberal about enforcing policy relating to liquor, wine or beer being brought aboard in reasonable quantities. However, any wine brought aboard is subject to a $15 corkage fee if taken into a dining venue.
paul929207 Posted August 25, 2012 #9 Share Posted August 25, 2012 We were on the Ocean Princess in April and May and had no problem carrying on alcohol.

Happy ks Posted August 25, 2012 #11 Share Posted August 25, 2012 No reason to close and move a thread, you can ask away on this board. The last time we cruised Princess was in April and we took aboard 7 bottles for a 7 night cruise. 2 in our carry on and the other 5 in checked suitcases (drove to port). We drank them all and paid $90 in corkage fees, 1 bottle we opened in the cabin. My sister and her husband also took aboard 7 bottles, they took 2 home. We did the same with the other 2 Princess cruises we've been on, no problems. Yes, we're winos.
Rare Hlitner Posted August 25, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 25, 2012 We have never had a problem bringing wine aboard a Princess ship and have often exceeded their 2 bottle guideline. We have also brought wine aboard at intervening ports (we love buying local wines in Europe). Hank
