Talbots now has bridal party options (On the Aisle collection) and I love this sparkly tank over narrow pants: http://www.talbots.com/online/browse/product_details.jsp?zoomImage=23075109_alt2&id=prdi29174&catId=cat1980065&rootCategory=cat70012&sortKey=Default&conceptIdUnderSale=cat70012&section=Regular

I'm a fan of this sleeveless top -8855_15548_mm.jpg

If you want long sleeve - I like this wrap. Or a twinset for the best of both worlds (though it has that glitter on it):

I bought this top at Macys.com http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/michael-michael-kors-plus-size-top-cap-sleeve-sequined-cowl-neck?ID=677424&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results but in white and silver. I plan on wearing it with black palazzo pants. Macy's has a really good selection of modern dressy tops in plus sizes. I have also purchased INC sequined tops at Macys.com.

I am really happy that Macy's is finally carrying fashionable clothes in plus sizes. I have a hard time finding misses tops that fit my chest, so I buy a mix of misses and plus size tops that fit my chest and get things tailored as needed. Nordstrom's is another one of my favorites for dresses and dressy tops.

Yeah, Talbots sale prices can be great, but the dresses when they first come out are priced high. And this is a new line - assume it's meant to compete with the JCrew bridal party line, maybe for slightly older women (and it comes in women's sizes, too)

Macys has great sale racks too, but sadly the Macys closest to me is crap and I don't like going to the other mall that has it - too crowded, long drive, etc.

I got a great (super cheap!) 2 piece set at Sears on clearance a few years ago - great pewter color. I've worn the top with black skirts, happened to find the matching pewter skirt at a different Sears a few weeks later - didn't necessarily want it but it was $12 so I figured I should buy it, just in case:p (top is a sleeveless faux wrap with some sequins, skirt is full ball skirt)

Love the black and white top, then I realised I have a similar one already. I´ll fish it out this morning ready for our next cruise and team it with some crushed velvet trousers. I have just bought some new black dancing shoes which i am taking on board and will do for dancing and evening wear

Try Dress Barn. It takes a while to assemble your wardrobe but I find they have new things every few weeks. My plan is

One tulip black skirt just below knee. One long black dress, One pair of crepe black pants, one pair white dress pants. Black, white, silver, red tops in sheer nylon -- I have maybe 15-20 that I have collected over the years. I choose based on time of year, mood, destination. the tops absolutely don't wrinkle and the tops can go over the shell or on top the long black dress and the jackets go over a pop of color top and pants or skirts. I never take beaded any more (too heavy) and limit "traveler's knit" (slinky and heavy) and NO GLITTER as it ruins everything in the suitcase even in a plastic bag.

I take less for formal nights and more day wear. If an outfit looks good over pants and skirt then shows up at dinner in 2 different ways.

Operating words are "You won't see these folks again:D" and "You will see everything from Fredrick's of Hollywood to Methodist Church and all will be accepted". Have fun and pack light.

Bowie:

You mention you limit yourself to mostly "travel knit". I am trying to do the same but have exhausted my list of known suppliers. I have searched high and low for a pair of burgandy pants and and matching tank top to wear with a an open 3/4 sleeve jacket I have. Was trying to branch out from BLACK if you know what I mean. Any on line source that you could suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Travelsmith often has various colors of knit travel pieces. JCP used to have their own line but I haven't seen it recently. Chicos adds various colors, in addition to the standard black. They have a red on their website now.

I have seen travel knits at a Costco Roadshow event. IIRC there was burgundy.

Found one thread. The line is called Made in Heaven. I'm very short and the jackets are long on me.
