Submariner Posted May 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2005 Just got back from a 7 day trip to the Western Caribbean. Fantastic ship! All expectations were met. You wont be disappointed with this boat
Ocean Boy Posted May 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2005 Explorer is my favorite ship. She is beautiful, fun to roam around, and had a great crew when I was aboard her. You have made a great choice.

cpa2be Posted May 16, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2005 We've been on the Explorer twice - loved it each time. We found the crew to be very friendly and helpful. They really seem to go out of their way to smile and greet you and ask if you are enjoying the cruise. One evening we ate in the Windjammer rather than going to the dining room. They had a fresh pasta station that was fantastic! You chose the pasta, type of sauce and then added peppers, onions, garlic, tomatoes, etc... This was the best meal of the cruise! You will have a wonderful time!

heathernijoli Posted May 16, 2005 #10 Share Posted May 16, 2005 There is an excellent video out called Building the World's Largest Cruise Ship and it details this ship in it's entirety. It shows the building of the Voyager (they have the exact same layout) and shows them purchasing and decorating with art for both Voyager and Explorer. You should check it out. It is always on Ebay it seems. We have a copy and we watch it a few months before sailing to get us excited again. It is a great way to SEE the ship before you see the ship... lephysteria Posted May 16, 2005 #11 Share Posted May 16, 2005 The Explorer was my first Voyager class ship. It was great. I had the best time on that cruise. If you'd like to find out if anyone else is sailing with you, take a peek on the Roll Call forum for RCCL cruises. You can browse for your sailing there. :D That video is a great thing to see. It's amazing what they had to go through to build this ship!

Carrie P Posted May 16, 2005 #14 Share Posted May 16, 2005 Do you know if they still have this pasta station on the explorer? On an all inclusive vacation in cancun that was "awesome" in my sons words... He loved having the cook make his own recipe .... He had pasta with every lunch and every dinner... Lots of garlic and tomatoes! We're going on the explorer in july.. We've been on the Explorer twice - loved it each time. We found the crew to be very friendly and helpful. They really seem to go out of their way to smile and greet you and ask if you are enjoying the cruise. One evening we ate in the Windjammer rather than going to the dining room. quiltsnh Posted May 17, 2005 #18 Share Posted May 17, 2005 to Bmyer: The C/A coupons are a booklet that you get in your cabin on the first day if you are a returning Royla Carribean guest. It has stuff like visits to Johnny Rockets/Photo discounts/discounts in the shops/casino/internet etc. On our cruise 1/3 of the guest were Crown and Anchor members (returning guests) says something for RCCL! To Cruiseagain? The Holiday Inn... we found it be just fine.... they have a small pool which we used... it is directly across from Bayside Marketplace which is and easy walk across the street to shops/entertainment and restaraunts. We ate breakfast at the hotel and it was responable. We would def. plan on staying here again. We took a bus(there were 27 of us so we arranged thru private company) over the causeway in the AM. not walkable.... we left the hotel at 10:45 and were on board by 11:30 lunching in the Windjammer.... the rooms were officially available at 1:00... sitting by the pool in bathingsuits from our carryon by 1:30... Don't wait to go to the ship at the posted 2:00 time!!! enjoy the day exploring or hanging out at the pool. Any other ??? let me know

CCJack Posted May 17, 2005 #24 Share Posted May 17, 2005 Bemyer: We can't wait either.... need a vacation - on deck 6 - balcony cabin. We have done Eastern Carib. with Disney before - so am really looking forward to the port of calls.... Lots of advice for first time cruisers, but mostly: 1) arrive the day before (if it is not to late to make such arrangements) - you will enjoy Day 1 of the cruise much more, 2) getting on the ship and getting off the ship - especially the Voyager class ships can be bad (long waits and lines, 3000 people, etc.) so don't fret it - everything between the two is fun !! 3) Don't think that you have to do shore excurions through the cruiseline - although some of them are better if booked through the cruiseline...
