ihopfar Posted May 17, 2013 #6476 Share Posted May 17, 2013 I guess you will have to board and start elbowing everyone to get to the guest relations desk first :D. I have to remember to ask you onboard how that went :) Gambee, I believe you are sailing next week -- would you mind posting the MDR menus when you get back? I have not seen very recent menus from other ships (I know they are supposed to be fleet wide) -- but most importantly, I want to know what days they are serving what so we can plan a specialty restaurant or two. You have been such a big help to everyone on here, so I am reluctant to ask for anything... but if it is not too much trouble. :) Thanks, Brad

cjlgd9603 Posted May 17, 2013 #6478 Share Posted May 17, 2013 And you have to purchase these on board, not before. Correct? Will have to lead my husband to these areas right away to see what we're missing! Lol however, having Haven access and possibly limited time to use the facilities because of daughters 9&7, I think we'll pass. Same issue. Not sure how much couple time we will get to make use of it. Right now, my son still likes hanging with his parents. Maybe it will change this time around.

chiapet Posted May 17, 2013 #6480 Share Posted May 17, 2013 The slots accept bills, no coins. Table games will give you chips for your cash when you sit down. If you want to get chips on your ship account you can ask at a table. They'll have you sign a form and give you chips. There is a 3% charge for this. Actually ... there is NO additional fee for charging to your room ... and it's now up to $1500pp/day ... or at least it was last weekend ;)

English101 Posted May 17, 2013 #6482 Share Posted May 17, 2013 I'm seriously considering changing my current reservation of 3 aft cabins (2 balcony cabins and an S6 cabin) on Deck 14 to Deck 9. If what I've read is correct, deck 9 has the largest aft balconies and it also looks appears that the S6 cabin on deck 9 is a reversed layout from Deck 14. Where the deck 9 S6 has a window in the bathroom that looks out to sea (which I prefer) and the deck 14 has a window in the bedroom instead. Am I wrong in any of these conclusions? And if not, do you guys see any big drawbacks of being on Deck 9 Aft instead of Deck 14? I just need a reality check before I start rearranging the 3 cabin reservations. Thank you! I think it's a wise move. Especially with your large group. You could easily fit all together on any one of those balconies, especially the s6. Even with the roof of deck 8, you'll have a great view. You'll just be looking out rather than down. Also if you prefer bathroom overlooking sea, it's a good choice. Just remember, the other people in your group may be able to see into the bathroom from the balcony. This hasn't been confirmed yet but take a look at the bathtubs of the 2bedroom suites (deck below sundeck). You do have blinds in the bathroom but this is a point worth considering. I'm thinking if you were on the 2 day for TAs, they lowered the max, and waived the fee.
English101 Posted May 17, 2013 #6484 Share Posted May 17, 2013 With regards to the #9 comment for the BC categories...I am not so sure the "angled" rooms have a different balcony. The deck plan looks that way but when you see the ship, there are no angles. The cabin closest to the bump out just has a longer wall separating it from the cabin next door. All straight lines. I specifically looked at this getting off the ship on Sunday. But I could be wrong! They are triangular. Look at this pic. They are all the way to the left. Tomct Posted May 17, 2013 #6489 Share Posted May 17, 2013 Interesting. The dockyard has wifi. $5 for an hour $10 for the day and $15 for 3 days. It's not great on the ship yet but will improve as work is completed. it's "great" on the dock Thanks Dave Holmans Here's more info I found on the Dockyard Wifi: . . . After that I got directions to get a card to access wifi. If anyone cares, you can purchase them in the gazebo past the gazebo. Amazingly, I found it with those directions. The dockyard has recently been outfitted with pretty much blanket wifi, and the prices are crazy cheap. $5 for an hour, $10 for a day, and $15 for 3 days. And once you get it set up, it's pretty good. Definitely faster than the ships satellite internet. I can get a signal from the side of the ship facing the Dockyard, though it's not very strong. But from the wharf right outside the ship, it's fine. The lady who sold me the card says they will run phone lines out the wharf extension when it is finally finished, finished, at which time you'll probably be able to get a signal anywhere on the ship...at least on the open decks. . . wasiii Posted May 17, 2013 #6490 Share Posted May 17, 2013 You are correct and have done your homework.:p The only potential consideration is possible noise from promenade on deck 8 below, and the roof over that area obstructing wake view angle. Also you will have a support pole on balcony. See visual aids for S6 here, showing roof over deck 8 walkway; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AkRUeqCmOMnGdFZWTVVzZndrc0NkN1N0TGpZb2ZYU2c&single=true&gid=0&output=html You sure they have those cabins still available, all together? .....I don't understand why having a higher aft balcony would help you see the wake much better. If the balconies were directly on top of each other then yes they would. But with the aft of the ship, each higher deck the balcony is pushed back (10-14). You might get a little better view but I doubt it would be worth it to give up a larger deck. I'm also thinking that the noise from deck 8 might not be so bad. Wouldn't the sound of the wake be like white noise and drown out the noise from the walkway? wasiii
$hip$hape Posted May 17, 2013 #6491 Share Posted May 17, 2013 How does the casino work? Do they accept cash and give you chips or coins for slots? Do you have to charge it to your room account? The slots accept cash(USD), or your "Lucky" Casino Card, and now, you may use your room card instead of the Casino Card. Enter either card and PIN number; cash amount is added to your casino account. The cash is charged to your room with no interest. If you use your room card, make sure not to forget, and leave it in a slot machine. Your Lucky Casino Card won't open your cabin door.:-)

Most of the time I will be lying in a lounger looking out to sea....not down. I would only switch if deck 12 opened up for my sailing. Deck 9 is like sitting in the very front row, you can see the whole screen but you're looking straight ahead/up) now think about sitting up on a balcony in that theater, you can look down or straight ahead. I don't think you're missing anything but I wouldn't want that white roof right there all the time. Some people have the same thoughts about the view from the waterfront with the lifeboats being in the way. I don't think you need to worry so much about noise on the waterfront from guests walking but it looks like you'd be directly over the kitchen. This may not be a problem since they're under rather than over you. We have always wanted to be as high as possible on a ship. But honestly, I don't think it makes that much of a difference.
