new to princess...lotus pool

hi....looking for a nice ship and the itinerary for the ruby princess in the med. i can't climb pool ladders.i see stairs at the lotus pool. how do you get to use that one? thanks...

There are easy steps into the Lotus pool. You get the lift to the Spa and the pool is through some swing doors there. It is adult only and has a swim up machine.

The next level is the Sanctuary. You can book beds for the whole cruise but they keep some back for daily booking, first come, first served. $10 for half a day and $20 for whole day. Again it is an adult area.

Be aware that the Lotus pool area is enclosed and the chlorine fumes are quite strong. Anyone with lung disease like emphasema should avoid that area.

There are no extra fees for the pool. The loungers above are in the extra fee "Sanctuary" area. The Lotus pool has a swim-against-the-current feature, if you want a little exercise--it was actually turned on during our recent Ruby Grand Med cruise. :)

Never noticed any chlorine fumes on our recent cruise. Pool is open to the sky so surely any fumes would dissipate quite quickly.

Yes, the terrace pool also has steps. I found it to be a nice quiet pool, and there was a nice bar a few steps from the pool.

thank you so much. where is the terrace pool? the med is what i am considering in 2014. princess is about $1000 more pp...but has my dream itinerary. i have sailed the other lines with x being my fave. what does princess have that x doesn't for all that extra cash?

Honestly (depending on the ship) nothing that's not offset by something X has. Pricing is usually a matter of itinerary and supply and demand; when I compare, X is usually more expensive than Princess.

The Lotus pool on the Ruby isn't enclosed at all - no chlorine fumes to worry about.
