Port information onboard

Does Azamara provide maps and information about the ports and places to visit? We were recently on the Windstar which had nightly shore "briefings" with a video and tips on touring each town. Not sure how much literature (maps, books etc.) I need to bring with me on my first Azamara cruise.

They also provide a brief talk about each port run by the shore excursions team. A few things about this which differs from our experiences on Celebrity

1. The talk, whilst covering some of the excursions you can go on is not an excursion hard sell, it is more general information. It is also repeated on the TV channel should you have other plans on board at the time of the talk

2. There is no shopping talk :D:D :D This is something that I am so happy about!

On some trips there may also be a specialist lecturer on board who does talks in more depth about the history/culture of the places being visited. These are usually excellent

We have found that if we have identified a specialist piece of information on line (such as a DIY walk) we bring that with us and where we already have guidebooks for a city they come (we have only a few of these), otherwise we can fully rely on the info we pick up on board

Enjoy your cruise!!

The Port talks and information provided on our Asia cruise were excellent. I had done a lot of research, but was still uncertain about some things. The talks made sure we knew about the shuttles in Xiamen, Kagoshima, Busan and Shanghai. For Nagasaki we were told that there would be maps and tram passes at the terminal along with other help. We were able to visit all these ports on our own.
