My dad did Sinatra on our first Carnival cruise. He'd sung all of Sinatra's material except My Way because of the length tempo and key.

They gave him an iPod with the arrangement and lyric sheet and dad locked himself in the cabin for the rest of the cruise (missing meals and happy hours!) so he wouldn't embarrass himself. Turned out he was the hit of the show with a standing ovation!

Said he'd never do it again! He loves to perform but doesn't like the work that went with it interfering with his cruise. When he was chosen the crew member selected the winners- now they are chosen by popular audience votes.

Yes, I've been in the Legends show 4 times with the old legends. I've been Aretha Franklin once, Madonna once, and Gloria Estafan twice. The legends have always been chosen by audience applause at auditions in the Karaoke lounge. I don't like to spend my cruise time learning the song but it is fun to be in the show so I like to learn the song in advance of the cruise. Thats why I want to know which songs are in the show so that I can learn the one I want in advance. If they have the old show, no problem as I know all the songs.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully someone will know the other female parts. I sort of hope the show IS the same on my cruise in December so I won't have to know any new songs for it but I'll be on Magic in March and so will my two sisters. I've been in the old show 4 times. One of my sisters actually has university degrees in music and teaches it as well as being in professional musical theater and the other can sing but sings very low (maybe the next Cher???) so I think it would be great fun if all of us were in the show.

I did an Elvis song once not realizing that it was audution for Legends. I was asked to be in the show but turned them down since I didn't want to spend the time learning the song and routine. First off, I'm not that good, and I hate Jailhouse Rock. If I could have picked the song I probably would have done it...Personally, I enjoy the Legends show and always pack early so I can go. Seen some really good talent and some not so good.

It's unfortunate that, as a result of Carnival's cutbacks, we no longer have good entertainment with professional (i.e. celebrity) entertainers. Instead, we now have the "Legends" show, comprised of passengers that, with rare exception, have little or no singing talent. We first experienced this new concept on our recent cruise on the Liberty. The singing was so awful, I thought my ears were going to bleed! That's about an hour of cruise time I'll never get back! What's next, replace the chefs with someone's grandma and her Betty Crocker cookbook? Maybe if everyone boycotted the "Legends" shows, Carnival would realize their mistake and bring back some good, professional entertainment. JMHO.

I haven't cruised on Celebrity but I have cruised on 4 cruise lines and every one of them had some type of passenger performance show. If you don't like them, you can always go to the Comedy club, disco, Casino, Go listen to the latin band or the band in the Casino bar. Both of those bands are professionals. I doubt they chained you to your chair to prevent you from leaving.

In all of the legends shows that I have been in and ones that I have seen from the audience there is typically only 1-2 people out of the group that perform poorly and usually there are 1-2 people who are better than the main cruise line singers. I'm surprised that you found a show with that many poor performers. If you actually checked you would find that some of the folks in the Legends show actually ARE professionals. When a professional performer goes on vacation they still can't help but want to perform a little!

Thanks for filling in that last unknown. I'm glad they have Tina Turner singing that song. I might have to try singing that. For those cruising on any of my future cruises who have expressed concern about your ears bleeding at the legends show; You can hear me sing a few notes prior to help you decide if you are going to run screaming from the passenger show by going to the U-tube link below:

You're right, there are are other venues. This was my first time to see the "Legends" show. Why didn't I leave? I guess I was being overly optimistic. I kept thinking "It can't get any worse. It has to get better." I guessed wrong! Believe me, I won't make that mistake again. While the possibility exists that there may be, on rare occasion, someone in the show with real talent, I suspect the odds of winning a big jackpot at the Blackjack table are slightly better.

not impressed.... voice was off key and very pitchy.... don't quit your day job.

Wow, aren't you rude...

It takes lots of guts to get infringing of 1,500+ ppl in a professional theatre, with professional performers and an orchestra...

The show is meant to be fun and if you don't like it, don't go and if you don't like the youtube videos, find something better to do than insult ppl that went on vacation to have fun!

OP- all of my recent cruises have still had the original legends cast of characters like madonna. The new cast may not have rolled out to all ships yet.

all passengers have a say as to who gets to be in the show.. if you dont want to go to karaoke and vote than dont complain when you dont like the people in the show. I like doing the show and have never had anyone upset about my performances.. but if you dont like it, you can stay out of the show lounge at 1030pm on the last night of your 7 day + cruises. Its one of manay activities.. and many people enjoy it whuich is why the lounge is always full at that time. Im sure there are other people who would love you take your seat at the show since usually its so full people are sitting on the stairwells.

Im sorry if that was snippy, but some rude people should just avoid posting unhelpful responses. Since the OP was asking for a list of songs and not your soap box view of the state of cruising entertainment.

:D. Couldn't agree more.

I loved doing it a few years ago, but felt it took too much time away fom relaxing as someone else mentioned. Then again it was on the victory 7day 7 island itinerary so there never felt like time for anything!

I've been accused of sounding a little too operatic but never of being "off key" or "pitchy". Pull out your tuning fork and you will find you are wrong. There were about 2 notes in the song that were a little flat but you are likely to hear the pros just as flat at times. I guess if the listeners are tone deaf it would be hard to please them.

I love the Carnival Legends show! I'm not a performer, but as far as audience entertainment I thought it was hysterical. The best performers weren't the people that had the best voice, but were the people who gave it their all and totally went for it! I appreciate that there is some variety instead of seeing the same dancers do routines to music every night. It isn't like this is EVERY night. To all those that have performed, thank you! It takes courage to go out there and you made my cruise better :)

I feel the same way about Karaoke. Some of the singers may not be the best performers but where else can you hear so many different singing styles in one evening? Also I find that Karaoke fans are the kindest folks on the earth and would never dream of booing a singer no mater how bad. I know that not everyone would like my voice. Some Do/Some don't! I have been "called back" when auditioning for a professional theater based on my voice. Unfortunately I have ZERO acting or dance ability so cannot make it in theater. Anyway if you hate my or any singers voice your always free to leave. Hope I get to hear you sing "ThisFemmeKat". See you on the Glory? Now at least we know which songs to practice, don't we!
