Rare TLCOhio Posted September 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2012 Hi guys. Got a choice between deck 10 port and aft on deck 11 and cannot decide. Is there any benefit of an aft balcony on a fjords cruise? Please help! Pegleg xx Like most things in life, there are always "trade-offs" and various pro/con factors to consider. From our Norway cruise experience two years ago, one of my best, most favorite locations was on the top, back part of the ship. It was more comfortable there with no wind to battle or fight. You had a great 180 degree plus views on both sides to see these spectacular areas, dramatic scenery, etc. That's a big, big plus with an aft location. BUT, it also is very nice to have a more central part of ship location that is time-saving and handier to get up and down to where you eat, have entertainment, walking the top part of the ship, etc., etc. What ports will your ship visit? Does you schedule do Molde, Ålesund, Flåm, Bergen and Stavanger? Our 2010 cruise on another line visited Ålesund, Flåm and Bergen. Really loved those three places so super much. Below are just a few pictures from those three scenic and interesting places. See more details from my live/blog connected below. Reactions and added questions?? THANKS! Enjoy! Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. Check these postings and added info at: http://www.boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1426474 You go on these Norway Coast cruises for the spectacular fjords. From the journey to Flam, Gudvangen and Sognerfjord, here is one picture giving you a sampling of the skies and views for these beautiful internal coastlines of the fjords. This is the dramatic overview of Alesund from the Aksla vantage point. This spot allows a nearly 360-degree view of this setting for this island city and the surrounding mountains and islands. It is at a 597’ height overlooking the five islands making up the scenic town.: From Flam's exciting rail trip, here are some pictures and highlights from this day in the Sognerfjord that is rated as the best in all of Norway for these views. This includes a spectacular train ride up the mountain, seeing the valleys, waterfalls, etc.: Here’s a close look at these historic Bergen Hanseatic merchant warehouse building fronts, people taking pictures, etc. : Right near the Hanseatic merchant warehouse area is the Bergen Fish Market with lots of options to buy food to eat on site or just watch, enjoying the “show” as people ask questions and buy the various fresh fish items.:

Rare TLCOhio Posted September 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2012 Great pictures. Thanks for sharing, Terry. Which cruise line were you on? Appreciate the kind comments, Judy. Per the link shown below, it was with Silversea. We went all of the way above the Arctic Circle to the North Cape, seeing the Lofoten Islands, etc., etc. Great trip. It was nice to do and see much more than just the Fjords and Bergen. Lots of pictures and trip details are on the live/blog. Look it over and let me know any reactions, questions, etc. THANKS! Enjoy! Adammara Posted September 9, 2012 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2012 A view from the stern! http://www.flickr.com/photos/59368763@N07/7963414936/in/photostream Taken from Tuscan Grille on Eclipse, enjoying a Elite breakfast, one of the highlights of the cruise for us. We were in a hump cabin, but perhaps should have gone for a stern cabin! Richard
Chunky2219 Posted September 9, 2012 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2012 We've done the fjords twice (not with Celebrity), once in a mid-ships starboard cabin, once in a stern cabin looking back whee we've been. Both good, amazing sccenery, but the stern wins every time unless you are very, very prone to mal de mer. . . . .
