Pardon the annoyance!

I feel a bit dumb after breezing through my first ever cruise on the Celebrity and getting all activities booked/planned in an hour the last time!!

Carnival Victory for November 11, 2012 and the cruise line webpage is really confusing me.

1) Dining - we are wait listed for the late dining and I see that I can make changes if I wish a different time. We dont so I know that I can go to the MDR early on boarding day and try our luck.

2) Specialty Dining - I see no options and I dont know if the Victory has anything. Obviously cannot reserve if I dont see any options

3) Drinks or Soda Passes - again dont see any options

4) Spa and Shore Excursions are fully available.

5) Gift Shop Option - God knows why i would want to see this when I have not even boarded.

6) I dont see anything about the specific ship like cafes etc. in the My Cruise page

I am very much against wasting time on the phone and making split decisions when I can go through online options and make decisions on my own time. Carnival's site is really getting to me now.

I called Carnival and 2 separate agents - reservations and e-solutions could not help me clearly with the above. what gives?

I am sorry but please point me in the right direction...

Thanks a ton!

Just check with the Maitre d' if you do not get your preferred seating ...usually around 1pm is when he starts taking seating changes.

2) Specialty Dining - I see no options and I dont know if the Victory has anything. Obviously cannot reserve if I dont see any options

The Victory does not have the Steakhouse on it.

3) Drinks or Soda Passes - again dont see any options

This is a Bubbles card for soda. (About $8 a day for adults, I THINK)

4) Spa and Shore Excursions are fully available.

You should be able to find all Shore Excursions under your Carnival page.

http://www.carnival.com Set up your account and profile. Add any cruises booked under "manage cruises".... there you can book any excursions.

5) Gift Shop Option - God knows why i would want to see this when I have not even boarded.

Carnival does not have a gift shop page that I know of...

6) I dont see anything about the specific ship like cafes etc. in the My Cruise page

Most of the meals on Carnival are included in the cruise. They do have a coffee shop with some speciality desserts on Promenade for a fee and milkshakes.

But since there is always free coffee and free soft serve ice cream on Lido...we rarely partake.

No pay restaurant on this class of ship. Be prepared for half the buffet space of conquest class, though its almost conquest size, so go off times.

There is a overflow place to sit upstairs... where on conquest class it is fish and chips (free).

Not as many food options pay or otherwise. you didnt miss anything.. since it doesnt have a steak restaurant.

Look at the bottom of the page on carnival.com under Carnival Q&A's. There is a wealth of information there not only for first time cruises, but also for anyone cruising. Very good information. Take time to go through the questions and answers. They will be very helpful.

Have a great cruise.

Is there no option to pick a table size in the MDR?

Very disappointed to see NO specialty dining option on the entire ship - late night booking rush to book the last aft cabin has to have some consequences :-)

I see that the Victory also has NONE of the advertised restaurants or dining options on Carnival's page like the Blue Iguana, Guy Burger. Why did this ship get gypped so badly?

I want to lower expectations sooner rather than later - knowledge is power!

I was told that the spa area has steam rooms, pools and saunas - if anyone has been on the Celebrity Summit it used to have a Persian Garden with co-ed steam room, showers and sauna. Are the Victory's facilities co-ed or gender specific?

Thanks again

Why did this ship get gypped so badly? -the 2.0 upgrades aer in process for the older ships and Victory is scheduyled for 2013 I think drydock when they move her port to FL.

Are the Victory's facilities co-ed or gender specific?-the fitness work out area if co-ed, couples massages can be requested, but the locker room sauna and steam are each seperate gender specific. I do not recall and whirlpool, and definitely no pool in there. The locker rooms do offer nice small private showers if you need more room- such as an interior cabin.

Gender specific.

Victory is a port intensive ship. Until two years ago there were no sea days so this ship will likely be one of the last ones to receive the 2.0 upgrades.

I can only assume that the company thinks that passengers aren't onboard as much so they don't require or may not miss the additional ammenities so much.

FYI

Victory is moving to Miami, taking over the Destiny, 4/5 cruises in Feb 2013.

Valor will be replacing her in San Juan.

1) Dining - we are wait listed for the late dining and I see that I can make changes if I wish a different time. We dont so I know that I can go to the MDR early on boarding day and try our luck.

-according to my recent Fun Times (the newsletter you get as you board -look in column on far right under dining) the Maitre 'd should be available for inquiries at 1:30-3 at hostess station in Atlantic dining room deck 3 Fwd. This is one near atrium, under the stairs. No matter which dining room you are assigned they can help from there with dining time, table map etc. Arrive early for best luck. Make sure to check your newsletter in case location changed.

2) Specialty Dining - I see no options and I dont know if the Victory has anything. Obviously cannot reserve if I dont see any options-correct no specialty dining yet, but nice second floor small dining area above lido area-take the stairs up from behind dessert kiosk. We always met to eat there. Easier to find one another :-) Especially since spouse (DH) likes grill burger and fries and myself a deli sandwich. It also has a beverage station up there.

-3) Drinks or Soda Passes - again dont see any options -sold as you go onboard for an insulated covered cup (like a travelers mug) and $8 a day. Not a great thing unless drink a lot of soda. We prefer to go get it once we settle in at the CVS across the waterfront. It is about a 45min round trip from cabin door. As face waterfront, it is down left from Sr.Frogs-the Big green Frog sign. We usualkly get a case of soda and water in rolling backpack, and cool it down in collapsible lunch cooler in cabin.

4) Spa and Shore Excursions are fully available.

5) Gift Shop Option - God knows why i would want to see this when I have not even boarded. This is Bon Voyage Dept- things like room decorations, flowers, cakes etc. Or preorder hard liquor bottles for deilvery instead of smuggling any hard liquor, but very expensive! Although in San Juan there is a wine/champagne store duty free on second floor and allowed 2 750ml per person. You are not allowed hard liquor to buy and go to room-that will be stored until last day if caught in bags.

6) I dont see anything about the specific ship like cafes etc. in the My Cruise page -login- but there is only a pizza place, grill and lido. Plus the continental breakfast and 24 hr room service (but limited menu) Oh, and the sushi cart before dinner near casino bar, and promenade area for a fee for coffee/cakes/ice cream

I have not been on victory but its sister to triumph I have been on. It has two pools, the main pool and a pool in the aft, sometimes its adult only, sometimes only the hot tubs back there.. but its surrounded by pizza and grill and ice cream on 3 of the corners.. so there will be kids around.

No pools in the spa area, which I only use to exercise, not for the spa stuff which to me isnt anything I want.. I had better stuff than that in my condo in Florida.

PS nope Carnival quite years back allowing you to choose table size. Its not a option with Carnival. Its doing a lot of cut backs and everyone posts .. just get me on a ship, they dont care what else it has. .. so go with a open mind and just enjoy cruising for what it is .. a chance to relax and get away.

Three pools (so does the Triumph :p ). Aft, Mid Lido and at the foot of the Slide.

Victory dry dock for the 2.0 has changed to Feb 2014. I just read a post about the Feb 17 cruise date being cancelled due to dry dock.

Have you looked into Your time dining or Anytime dining. I don't know if it is still available, but if it is an option, you can go to eat anytime between 5:45 and 9:30 pm. You also can ask to be seated at a table for 2 or sit with others at a larger table with this option.

Bon Voyage is the gift department to purchase items before you cruise. It is here

http://www.carnival.com/BonVoyage/Default.aspx?icid=CC_Footer_65

A good site to explore the ship is cruisedeckplans dot com and this site:

https://www.goccl.com/irman/bookccl/the_fleet/interactive_map/deckplans/shipboard.HTML

Carnival is currently offering an all you can drink package on the Victory. It may or may not still be available when you sail. But if it is, it is for $42.95 per person per day plus a 15% gratutity added to the cost. Both over 21 must purchase it so it would be a total cost of $691.50 for a 7 day cruise for 2 and includes most alcoholic drinks, beers, wine and soda. They also offer the bottomless bubbles for unlimited soda which can be purchased from Bon voyage or on board.

Enjoy your cruise.

I sat down and I read and I thought and I researched about the ports - got me all happy again.

I should have sent my thoughts earlier - we will have fun and I need to not compare cruises until i have been on many instead of 2. Thank you all for oyur patience and gentle nudge to enjoy and remember that its a vacation!!

So on to ports of call now....thanks again. Truly appreciate your help.

Also, any person over 21 can carry on one 750ml bottle of wine and every person can carry on a 12 pack of non-alcoholic beverages.
