PC Dining - Do we still meet people?

On our last couple of cruises, a highlight has been the friends we've made. This has included our Cruise Critic friends through the Roll Calls and our table mates at dinner.

We're scheduled for our first PC Dining option on our upcoming Island Princess Alaska cruise. We generally prefer traditional dining but are traveling with our in-laws who like eating earlier than us so I chose PC dining figuring it would be more flexible.

My question is: Do PC diners tend to dine "alone" or to mingle like those seated together in traditional dining? Can we expect our group of 4 to be seated at a large table to encourage meeting new people or at a table for 4?

Sue and Larry,

While you won't have "built-in" tablemates, you do have the flexibility to dine at a larger table, and you can ask to be seated with other couples, rather than a family. You also have the option of dining with folks you meet on excursions or around the pools. It does help to be a bit more outgoing around the ship, but you will meet many wonderful folks.

We just did a 12 day with PC dining and the PC option our first time with it was wonderful. We will do PC dining from now on. We had great flexibility in times and also dining room. We always asked to be seated with others and never had to wait more than two minutes. We met people from all over the US and several other countries as well. In one meal you do not build great relationships however we did see many of these people again throughout the cruise and we would strike up conversations.
