How early can we disembark?

Our Black Sea cruise ends in Athens (Piraeus) on Aug. 6. We need to fly from Athens to London to catch a 2:35 nonstop flight to Phoenix. That means our only British Airways option is an 8:30 flight that morning. What is the likelihood that we can pull that off? There is one day a week that British Airways does not make the nonstop flight to Phoenis and, of course, that day falls on Aug. 7, so our choice would be to stay in London for two nights (not really an option as we will be there for four nights prior to arriving in Turkey) or to stay at the airport for one night and then fly home via another city and make changes at the airport. We are using points so are locked in to British Airways.

My first suggestion is that you consider staying two nights in Athens, catching the 8:15 on the 8th with no bother.

If that does not work, you really have two choices. Either tell the front desk on the ship WELL IN ADVANCE of your predicament, and pray that the ship gets through customs easily on the 6th (because nobody ain't going NOWHERE until that happens); or end your cruise in Mykonos on August 5th (be sure to get the cruise lines permission in advance) and ferry to Athens at your leisure.

You'll never be able to make the 8:15 on the 5th, but at least you'll have peace of mind on the 6th (and a story that will take you through cocktail parties for a decade!).

no way you will make that flight

I see the flights you mean ..

so you either have to get to LHR on the 6th or the 8th for the non stop home...Correct??

You could try for the 9:15 on Aegean air & connect with BA...not sure if they code share if not you would have to collect bags & re check in at LHR ( not a good plan) but can be done

Good luck

We used Oceania-booked air for our upcoming cruise and they have us on a 9:25 am flight out of Athens on disembarkation day. My guess is that they wouldn't have booked this for us if it wasn't going to be possible.

It all depends on the time the ship is scheduled to dock

Your is 4am so you will be up & off very early ;)
