If I missed HIS post about renting the plates ...then I am sorry  From the OP in his original post. It is clearly stated that he "rented" the plates and plans to return them: and i don't want any bashing becuase of this...just curious...has anything mysteriously jumped into your bag and made its way home from one of your crusies...could it be the little towel animals that your cabin steward did up for you...or is it a nice set of those red pizza plates...or maybe a wonderful thick pool towel...it's time to be honest...in our case we are renting those 7 plastic pizza plates but i plan to bring them back...Navagator of the seas 3-9-2013... iheartbda Posted November 16, 2012 #131 Share Posted November 16, 2012 Rather than take back the plates on 3-9-13, he's probably just going to add to his "rented" collection.
blueblock Posted November 16, 2012 #132 Share Posted November 16, 2012 I wonder? Many responders throw up their arms and say 'I don't take anything from the cruise line'.My question. 'Do some of these same cruisers book tours privately, not through the Line, thus 'stealing' far far more from the cruise lines than say, a bar of soap? Think about it. john This analogy makes no logical sense at all. The person who takes a towel from the cruise line takes possession of something that is not his to take. That's stealing. The person who looks at the optional tours offered by the cruise line and then exercises the option to purchase an alternate service offered by another company, or decides not to take a shore excursion at all, is not "stealing" anything - he is making a rational and entirely legal choice. Taking a non-ship excursion may reduce the cruise company's revenues, but so does eating in the main dining room or buffet instead of a specialty restaurant, or being a non-drinker with a small bar bill, or choosing not to gamble in the ship's casino. Are you suggesting that the only moral choice is to maximize the cruise ship's revenue by giving the cruise line all one's money, and that anything else is stealing? Yes, choosing an independent ship's excursion probably has more impact on the company's bottom line than towel theft. But I wasn't raised to believe that morality was based on a dollar amount.
