Clarea Posted October 26, 2012 #1277 Share Posted October 26, 2012 The "Peace Boat" Would one of you who is not paying for internet by the minute post a bit about this ship for us. Peace Boat is a Japan-based international non-governmental and non-profit organization that works to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment. Peace Boat seeks to create awareness and action based on effecting positive social and political change in the world. We pursue this through the organization of global educational programmes, responsible travel, cooperative projects and advocacy activities. These activities are carried out on a partnership basis with other civil society organizations and communities in Japan, Northeast Asia, and around the world. Peace Boat carries out its main activities through a chartered passenger ship that travels the world on peace voyages. The ship creates a neutral, mobile space and enables people to engage across borders in dialogue and mutual cooperation at sea, and in the ports that we visit. Activities based in Japan and Northeast Asia are carried out from our seven Peace Centers in Japan.
Trainman-2 Posted October 26, 2012 Author #1278 Share Posted October 26, 2012 I have always wanted my own Pirate Ship but if I couldn't have one I want my own Gun Boat. I think that "manning the guns" was a bit much for departing the port but the crew seemed to enjoy it.

Trainman-2 Posted October 26, 2012 Author #1281 Share Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) When we came through here on the first leg it looked like there was a Yacht Club to the left of the Terminal Area so we went looking for it. It turned out to be a nice restaurant so we had a light lunch. They had WiFi! Trainman-2 Posted October 26, 2012 Author #1282 Share Posted October 26, 2012 The shopping area at the Terminal was heavy with textiles and weavings. They had lots of colorful stuff and Women demonstrating traditional weaving. Trainman-2 Posted October 26, 2012 Author #1285 Share Posted October 26, 2012 We recommend the free Jade Museum. They has air conditioning and lots of interesting displays about the history of Jade in the area. They also had an excellent Video on the story of finding the Mayan's original source of jade. Trainman-2 Posted October 26, 2012 Author #1287 Share Posted October 26, 2012 After we returned to the ship we cooled down, took a nap, and went to see the movie "Battleship" in the Masquerade Theater on Decks 5 & 6 forward. The movie was fun but certainly not Academy Award material. Lots of noise and explosions and evil alien machines. No sex at all other than the obligatory good looking babe strutting her stuff whenever they could work it in to the story line.
