Cape Canaveral - Rental cars for Kennedy Space Cente

We are planning on going to Kennedy Space Center when the Jewel stops at Port Canaveral in November. We are thinking of renting a car since it will be six of us and we received free tickets from our congresswoman. Has anyone done this, is it easy to get from the cruise ship terminal to the car rental places? Or would you suggest a different way to get to the Space Center? Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Make sure to rent a car or mini van ahead of time with a company that has a shuttle to/from the port . If they have a shuttle it does the rounds of the terminals and picks up passengers.

We have rented from Hertz a couple of times. They pick you up and drop you off at the cruise terminal. It is close to the terminal.

We rented a car last January in Port Canaveral... don't remember which car rental company but most of them we looked at picked up at the terminal... just be careful about drop off time.. the company we rented from told us that we could drop the car off after hours but if we did, they had a contract with a taxi company to take you back to the ship for a "per person" charge. We got the car back in time but since you are in port after 5, you might was to make sure you have those arrangements made. It was our plan that if we stayed later we would have my DH drop everyone off at the ship and then go back by himself and drop off the car and get a taxi back.
