mainelycruising Posted October 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2012 The Dawn sailed on schedule at 3.00 p.m. from Portland, and passed Portland Head Light at 3.25. At 3.40 she turned around and headed back into Portland. I last saw her an hour ago when she was sitting stationary near Fort Gorges. A Coast Guard boat was alongside. Just saw on AIS that she is underway to Halifax. I wonder if it was a medical emergency?
debjo Posted October 6, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2012 I'm curious to find out what happened, as we are due to sail on the DAWN next week for the Quebec to Boston trip. I'm hoping that she isn't having any mechanical issues...but at the same time, I'm concerned if it was a medical emergency for the passenger. Perhaps someone who is on the current sailing may log-in to Cruise Critic and solve this mystery. Debjo

SBwannaB Posted October 8, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2012 Probably a medical emergency. Just got off the Dawn in Boston. We were delayed a short while in Sydney? Someone was picked up by ambulance. This cruise had a much older group on it.
debjo Posted October 8, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 8, 2012 Thanks for the updates everyone. I hope the passengers are O.K. now. Sad thing to happen when you are on vacation. Debjo
cassie55 Posted October 22, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 22, 2012 We've just got home after a 14 day back to back so this happened 2 weeks ago. It was a medical emergency. An ambulance boat came out to meet us as well as the pilot who returned. The captain told us at his Q&A the next day that the patient was in a stable condition in hospital.
