Batten Down the Hatches

I'm glad that I am not sailing this week.

I just happened to check the National Data Buoy Center website. Atlantic seas will be building all of this week and by Friday parts of the Gulf Stream will have 23 to 24 foot seas.

Pass the seasick pills.

Click on western Atlantic or tropical Atlantic. Each bouy has a data number which has real time info, temp, wave height, wind direction, air pressure.

Yikes.... We are leaving on the Explorer on the 28th heading to Bermuda out of NYC. According this site I found from the first website listed, they are forecasting waves of 12 meters on the 29th.... We are going to be on Deck 9. Better start taking the Bonine earlier than we usually do.....

I would assume that the Captain would try to avoid the severely rough areas, but I am not sure where he could go to get around it. They would save money on the food budget, but have a huge cleanup chore. :o

I'm in Florida and our weather is saying this storm should move to the Bahamas by the end of this week. I have friends on Freedom this week doing eastern caribbean, so I've been watching and hoping it's not too bad for them.

Local weather forecasters have mentioned it. The reality is it stands a equal to higher chance of just turning out to sea like previous storms have.

Many pieces of the puzzle have to come in line. A tremendous amount of uncertainty does exists.

I'm with ya'!!

I recall hitting a nor' easter out of New York on QE2 around this time of year, and thank goodness we were on QE2! A real challenge to dance in the Queens Room when the ship is rockin' and rollin'! :D

Great, we sail out of New York Saturday heading to Bermuda. We are going to be in Bermuda next Monday, maybe. Rough seas don't bother me but my GF doesn't do to well. Maybe I won't tell her.

It's a wait and see situation at this time. Lot's of uncertainty with the evolution of this cyclone past Friday ????

That's remarkable! Thank you. I have saved that page to my favorites and will enjoy learning about it. Thanks for the new hobby!
