Booking the cruise doesn't count, you move up when you've taken the cruise (as I understand it).

We booked a cruise about twelve days ago. It is my DW's 12th cruise and she continues to be listed on the boarding pass as Platinum while my status was listed as Gold even though this will be my 10th Carnival cruise. :( About three days later, I checked on our boarding passes again and my status had been upgraded to Platinum.:)

 

The Carnival site says that you will become Platinum "when you begin your 10th cruise," but it seems like the upgrade propagates through their computer system shortly after you make your final payment.

Once you enter your information for your online check-in, it should be changed on your boarding passes :)

I just booked cruise 10 last night. My PVP told me that my status may say gold until after the cruise but the boarding docs and luggage tags should say Platinum when I print them out.

I think they should get on the ship and enjoy the cruise being Platinum.:)

Our upcoming cruise will be my 10th and I just printed out my luggage tags and boarding pass and both said VIP
