Carnival policy on weather

Just wondering what the policy is with Carnival if you don't end up sailing due to the weather?

It depends ..

Are you cancelling? or Are they cancelling?

If you are cancelling unless you have travel insurance .. nothing.

If they are cancelling then whatever the offer is they put on the table.

Basically, it's case by case.

 

And some think that their insurance policies cover them in these instances. I know I did.

 

We had a blizzard thatshut the airport. Our insurance did not cover us to miss the ship, only to catch up with it.

 

And while I was on the phone, all the other phones (sounds weird, pre cellphone age) had people actually buying and getting insurance.

 

And although I tried, after a second airport shut down, the best I could do was get to the ship the day before debarkation.

 

They (Carnival) finally told me to call them back the next morning.

 

We did, and they offered us 4 different alternate sail dates, one of which we took.

 

The insurance covered us for our meals and lodging, but nothing regarding our cruise fare.

Or what if we have booked excursions through the ship but we dont end up going to that port?

I'd like to say that is extremely rare, but they just did it to the Glory out of Virginia.

 

They will refund excusions through the ship if the ship doesn't call at that port.

 

What and when is your cruise?

I think with the Glory they are processing refunds and giving you $200 toward airfare changes. I'm impressed.
