MSan914 Posted November 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2012 Hello - We are arriving the day prior to our March 30, 2013 cruise and I just booked the night at intercontinental Miami for $189. Is this hotel in an okay area? We have a pre-teen with us. Also - are there restuarants/shops in walking distance. Our flight arrives at 4pm....so we have some time. Thanks! Yes, its pretty safe, lots of people around, you can walk through the park to touristy Bayside. You can also hop on the Free Trolley or free Metromover for other fun options in Mary Brickell Village. Shops? What kind of shops?
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2012 Hotel is in a very safe area. There are a lot of restaurants nearby. Bayside is for tourists and has stores and restaurants and probably is good for a pre teen. Keith
brunello22 Posted November 1, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2012 I personally do not care for Bayside myself as it is very touristy, however for a pre-teen, he/she may enjoy the Thriller Miami Speedboat Adventure, which leaves from Bayside. Fun for the whole family too! Check out their website for further information and also for discounts. http://www.thrillermiami.com/ There are a number of good restaurants within walking distance (Fratelli Milano and Ceviche 105 are my two faves). As far as shopping, downtown has mostly electronics, cheap (low-quality) clothing stores, jewelry, pawn shops, but I think Marshall's is still open. Bayside has shopping, but you can find the same stores back home; nothing really too unique there (Express, Victoria's Secret, etc.). There is a CVS pharmacy nearby for last-minute travel items.
