beach across from the Courtyard Marriott ?

Several years ago we enjoyed the beach across the street from what was first the Holiday Inn and later the Courtyard Marriott. There were small trees for shade and lounges to rent. If you were at Seagrape beach club facing the water, this other area of the beach would be to your right a bit. Are there still trees there for shade (a hurricane heavily damaged trees several years ago) and are there still loungers for rent?

Alas sometimes online maps get some details wrong. That's why you have Cruise Critic to get the latest and greatest information. ;)

There were only ever two different hotels bearing the Marriott name in Cayman. Not sure why a map might be showing otherwise.

  1. The Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort located at 389 West Bay Road is right on the water. This hotel is still very much in operation.

  2. The Courtyard by Marriott was located at 1590 West Bay Road, about 2.5 miles further down West Bay Road from the port area from the above mentioned hotel, and on the side of the road opposite Seven Mile Beach. This hotel ceased operations a few years ago. Redevelopment is just starting for this hotel.

The Surfside Bar is located at the site of the old Gecko Bar, on the beach directly across the road from the old Courtyard by Marriott. This is a short walk from the section of Seven Mile Beach known as SeaGrape.
