The first evening's dinner and dining room (an RCI cruiser described this as the "garrish" dining room... they haven't been on some of the other Carnival ships!)

For the first time I was not happy with where we were seated. We were seated in an annex behind the dining room called the "Captain's Club". Away from the action, and it showed. While the people that took care of us were pleasant enough, I was still eating dinner the first night at 10:30. Just TOO LONG. The bar lady told one of the people at our table when she failed to bring his drink that she was "just too busy" and she forgot completely about it. Not Carnival's typically wonderful service.

Great review, thank you! I must say, that of all the cruises I have taken on Carnival, my cruise to nowhere was by far my least favorite. I thought everything about that cruise was a notch below the typical Carnival standards I was accustomed to, except for the service where I found it to be many notches below. Still had a good time, but it was my least favorite cruise of all I have taken, even outside of carnival.

Just wondering if they have switched to the New Pizza on the Pride yet. It is going fleet wide but last I checked it hadn't arrived on the Pride.

I'm so sorry but I can't honestly answer your question. I never ate pizza while on the cruise so that wasn't even on my radar. :( I found it surprising that they still had the old dishware and trays rather than the newer tray/plate combo they had on the Valor for the past 2 years.

I hope someone who reads this can answer your question...

Enjoying your review.

My first Pride cruise we sat in the Captain Club and enjoyed it because there was less vibration. We didn't have a problem with service in the area but I think this cruise probably had more people on it.

Looking forward to reading more.

Hi all,

I am back from my very first solo cruise--a Cruise to Nowhere from the Carnival Pride.

I will be posting LOTS of pictures for those of you interested in seeing the ship. I have to upload them in order to post them here, so please bear with me over the course of the next couple days. This is a placeholder more or less from which to start. I hope you're looking forward to seeing it...

I look forward to sharing this all with you!

hey girlfriend!! I found you! :D Anxious to see if your assessment matches mine!

Debra- sorry we didnt get a chance to meet!

were you seated in the captains club because it was so crowded in the MDR?

Michelle, hi! I think I sat in there because I was single and was with other singles. I met some lovely people at my table and one that has friend potential, so it was good. I just didn't like not being able to see the center of attention and such.

Hopefully we'll be on a cruise again together... what about Freedom on October 5, 2012? :)

WOW, can't believe I missed this. I am local also and haven't been on the boards in a couple weeks.

Great review,

May I ask what were the cabin prices for this 2 day cruise???

Thanks

Stan

I booked an inside and it was $99/pp! Sorry you missed it. There's one in Norfolk in May and it is definitely not that inexpensive. I think they did it to try and make some money since the ship was not allowed to sail that week due to the hurricane.

Friday night I saw part of the show in the Taj Mahal theatre. They did a decent number, but one thing that I and others noticed about this troupe is how out of sync they were. It almost looked like a high school musical with their timing. The singing and costumes, music, etc. were great like usual; it almost seemed as tho they hadn't practiced.

After that, it was time for a bit of playing in the casino:

I lost some money and I gained it all back. I was quite happy about that. I don't win big like others do... I had fun just playing for a bit of time and not losing my shirt! LOL

Saturday, I got up early (I sort of thought I would sleep in being a dark inside cabin, but to no avail).

So I got up and got dressed and went up to breakfast up on the Lido deck. The flow on the Lido buffet, to me, seemed disjointed, but it very well might have just been me. They still offered the same types of foods that they did on all the other ships.

Then it was time to find something to do. I roamed around the ship and then decided I would sit with some busy work at Lido Venus pool. It was covered and pretty and I would be by myself but not alone.

The hot tubs were working and this pool was in use. The outdoor hot tubs were working but the pool was closed off.

The disc jockey was out there, too...

While I was sitting out there doing my needlework, I took a picture of my feet. LOL... luckily I did that. Being alone, I really didn't have anyone to take my picture (and quite frankly, I STINK at doing the self-portrait thing that so many people can do--I've tried and tried and tried and the results are not good). I'll explain why I was lucky I did this picture later...

I then went roaming around the ship some more. The day was sunny and beautiful, but cold until we turned around. BTW, this was our route for the CTN:

Looking down in the Atrium lobby:

I use a fitbit for measuring my steps, calories burned, etc. This day on the ship, including my workout, I walked over 20,000 steps and 110 flights of stairs on Saturday!

Time to get ready for dinner. It said in the Fun Times it was Cruise Casual, but everyone dressed up. They served Lobster, Prime Rib, BBQ Ribs (which is what I ordered, but it is a strange selection for a formal night).

Then onto the show...

By the time dinner was done, I was tired and hadn't begun packing. So I headed back to my room, and then as I was getting things together.... and... wait. WHERE IS MY CAMERA?! I couldn't find it! ARRGH.

I had to go and try and find it. Not in the dining room (and where the heck was I after that?!) I was panicked.

I called Guest Services, and they had it. I had to prove it was mine, which was a nice security measure. They wanted me to show a picture of me on the camera. I had none! So I showed that picture of my feet and put my foot up on the counter. People laughed and the lady gave me my camera, but she didn't seem too sure. LOL. I was thrilled they had it, but how DUMB of me to leave it somewhere! ARRGH.

By the time I got back, packed, and in bed, it was almost 1 a.m... they didn't do a debarkation talk, but had it on television, so I watched as I packed.

It was a very relaxing cruise. I prefer to cruise with someone that I know. I met some great people at dinner and had I not lost my camera, I would have gotten together with them to go to the comedy club. But that set me back in time. I hope I can travel with them again. :)

Sunday morning I woke up early and got dressed. I decided to do self-assist since I had one bag. I went to the dining room and ate breakfast with a table full of people. By the time I finished, I made my way back to my room, got my things and the announcements for debarkation started. Perfect timing!

I rolled out and off the ship at about 8:15. Bye bye Pride... beautiful ship, debarkation and embarkation was simple. The ship is gorgeous. The food was good, but the service in the dining room for our area was spotty. VERY courteous people, but just not the way we're used to dining from Carnival.

It was a nice cruise!

It was a nice cruise, but with shortcomings which you pointed out nicely. I enjoyed myself immensely and was very pleased with the table mates I was placed with at the 'solo' table.... ;)

It was great meeting you and wish you hadn't lost your camera and could have joined us after dinner!

Working on future cruise dates and hopefully we will get one coordinated together!

Thank you for your review. My best friend and I almost went on this cruise, but I ended up with some water in my basement from Sandy and my insurance did not cover it...ugh! So there went the cruise. The Pride is beautiful and seeing your pics makes me want to find a sailing on her!

If you do and haven't been there, consider booking one that includes Half Moon Cay. You won't be disappointed!!!
