hightownCO Posted November 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Just a quick note to those interested.... We received a note at embarkation that the stop at Princess Cay was cancelled due to storm damage. They said it should be opened for the next sailing. Was surprised that they advised they would give each passenger a $50. OBC as compensation. Very nice of Princess and IMO not needed but a very nice jesture. If you figure 3000 passengers, that cost $150,000! Since the sailing before us had the big wipedown due to the gastro illness, our sailing had the coast guard inspection because they had just made the transatlantic the sailing before last. So embarkation was delayed a little. Also wanted to share that we had our cruise critic meet and greet. I sent 8 invites to Sr. Officers and Directors. The ONLY one who came was Commodore Romano! WHat a nice man. He said he was in between weddings and just wanted to stop by and welcome us. Really nice. Well that's all of import except, Ruby is beautiful and her staff is excellent. ntengwall Posted November 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Thanks for the update! I'm sailing on the Ruby on Feb 10--same itinerary as you :) I've always sailed RCCL before so this is my first time on Princess...sounds like they really know how to treat their passengers! Have a great cruise!

Did you have Princess HQs arrange time and place for your meet and greet or did you chose Adagio yourself. Just curious. How many on rollcall came? If you had Princess set this up, who was your point of contact at Princess for the Ruby? Thanks:)
PATDEN Posted November 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2012 We will be boarding the Ruby on Sunday for our cruise, so hopefully Princess Cays will be ready for us. Really looking forward to it.

MustangGT Posted November 7, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Have a great cruise! Commodore Romano was on the Emerald for our NYC - Quebec City cruise in September/October. So glad you got to meet him! He is very personable! We also sailed the Caribbean with him a few years ago. We missed Princess Cays due to high seas and are hoping we can visit the island in February - back on the Emerald again!
PeteC22 Posted November 7, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2012 That $50 cabin credit they gave you includes part of the port charge you already paid them, so it's not all their money but it's still a nice gesture. At least they didn't make you fight to get it back. ;)
Infi Posted November 7, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 7, 2012 I did a BVE on the Ruby on Sunday and concur with the late embarkation. The whole crew seemed very frazzled by the coast guard inspection and had said it was a morning where everything had gone wrong and they were running behind. Thankfully, the FCC consultant was able to bring the BVE guests on first, but we were the only ones aboard for a very long time.
Shogun Posted November 7, 2012 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Hi There Commodore Romano is a great guy to chat to, was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours with him a few weeks back over lunch, as to meet and greet last year we had around 15 crew and staff there. yours Shogun

btyko Posted November 8, 2012 #12 Share Posted November 8, 2012 I just heard from my daughter who is on your cruise. She is having a great time. She is a veteran of many cruises and cruise lines, and she says that the entertainment and food are the best she has had on a ship in years. DrivesLikeMario Posted November 8, 2012 #13 Share Posted November 8, 2012 Wow, that OBC was generous on Princess' part! Commodore Romano is very nice and that's great that you had him stop by for your M&G. We've had meetings where 6 crew members show up and some when none show up at all. Guess it just depends on their schedule and if they're the social type. Thanks for the info. and enjoy your sailing! :)
CTGirl Posted November 9, 2012 #14 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Hi Sharon, We sailed with the Commodore on our last cruise, the TA on the Emerald. He was wonderful and everywhere. He would often be at the door greeting everyone as we came back onboard after a day at port. He would always stop and talk with people. Enjoy you cruise.
