Future Vacation Certificate use and expiration question

We purchased 2 of the certificates on our cruise June 2012. We plan to use 1 for our upcoming cruise June 2013.

 

For the 2nd certificate what are the expiration terms? I don't actually have a certificate as there was a "technical" difficulty on the ship and we were told they would be mailed to us but never arrived. I called Carnival and got the numbers over the phone.

 

Do we have to book by the date purchased?

or

Start a sailing by the date purchased?

or

Be finished sailing by the date purchased?

 

I'm a little confused and we want to do a Mediterranean cruise in Late May or early June 2014 if offered. I purchased the certificates on June 8, 2012 if that helps.

Mine says book by 24 months

Sail by 36 months

That's great. So I essentially have until June 7 2014 to book.

 

Now just have to anxiously await itineraries being released.
