Self Disembarkation

I used the search function, and found conflicting answers (depending on arrival time).

Is a 9:30 flight out just cutting it too close if our ship arrival time is 6:00 a.m in BCN.

Saw someone post that O had booked them on a 9:45, so it must be possible, others say don't do it.

We can self-disembark and would take a taxi. Have been to Barcelona before so familiar with the city.

Would you do it?

Possible but cutting it awfully close.

In theory you have to be at the airport at 7:30 and if you arrange a private van it may just be possible. I would not depend on a taxi as they may presume no one will be getting off that quickly.

The problem will be if the ship arrives late or the port clearance authorities take a long time. Is this your first stop in Spain or does everyone have to clear immigration?(The ship will take care of it but it may delay clearance) What port are you coming from?

As far as O booking a 9:45 flight, if you are on their flights then they have responsibility to get you new flights etc. If you book, you are on your own.

Depends on what your last port was. If you don't have to clear customs you may be okay, but its the sort of timing that if anything goes wrong you're going to have trouble. I wouldn't do it unless its Oceania Air and you're taking their transfers. That puts the risk on them.

I think this is too close. It may be possible but. . . .what if there is an accident that really messes up traffic, or a problem coming into port and you arrive late?

I would try for 10:30 am or later to be safe.

I would also agree with the advice to book a private car.

Good luck

Don't forget that the ship might just clear customs later than expected.

It can clear customs earlier than expected as well, but I wold never count on that.

We usually are independent passengers but we tend to be staying on in the port where the cruise ends so we don't have a problem. But on the rare occasion when we have flown home that same day, we leave a big cushion between expected departure time and flight time.

I just wouldn't feel safe gambling that an early arrival means we can get to the airport for a morning flight. (My husband, OTOH, probably would take the risk if I weren't tagging along!)
