Bit of a blog - Adventure of the Seas – B2B in the Caribbean – 18th November 2012

Recommended Posts

Hi Linda,

My Wife and I are really enjoying your blog. But I have two questions.

1- On the turnaround day between cruises were you allowed access to your cabin or did you have to wait until 1pm.

2-Do they offer the luggage valet on this cruise?

38 days until we are in San Juan waiting to go on our Back to Back. For once in my life Christmas can't come and go soon enough LOL :)

I can answer question 2 - Luggage Valet is not offered on cruises departing from San Juan.

The last time we were on Adventure was last March, and the reserved pool seating for Gold card holders was forward in the "stadium" area between decks 11 and 12. I believe it was only one side, and I don't remember any different colored towels. There was a signed chained to the entrance that mentioned the area was reserved.

Bob

That is what I observed this trip as well.

Thanks for your response. Just so I understand correctly, you are saying that there is in fact reserved seating for suite guests/gold sea pass holders? I was looking at the pics Linda took of the pool area from the lounge, and I didn't see the different colored towels in the area I thought were for suite guests? For some reason I thought the towels on those chairs were a gold color and they fit over the head of the lounger? I may be wrong, or my memory is not serving me correctly! Anyone know?

When we were on Voyager they were gold coloured towels.

The seating was on both sides and there were two towels placed on each lounger but they were they the same blue towels that everyone else checked out.

Loved loved loved it. Well worth it; would highly recommend checking Beulah out.... will post her details on my return.... would have preferred the choice of beach or town..... want to go back very much

Thanks. I would be very interested in that information.

Whilst I have been writing yesterday up we have pulled in to Aruba. Go to lean against the balcony ledge…. It is totally soaked in water. They have clearly been out there washing unbeknownst to me….. just as well I sleep with my curtains pulled shut….. I am accompanying my super cool new friend Ginnie to watch her sky dive later. In the evening there’s a small CC group dining at Pincho’s ashore. All aboard is 930pm (although it could be 10pm according to the board at the gangway) which is a wonderful opportunity to stay ashore longer.

Correction

I decide to go to MDR for breakfast. Hadn’t intended to breakfast. Once I am seated I feel as if I am getting slightly more than the usual attention that I am used to. Men in epaulettes hover. I order my usual. David, the Dining Room Manager comes over and asks about last night. He has heard everything and been personally involved. He HAD called them to tell them I was coming at breakfast in the morning. GF choices have been instigated for a year now and HE had brought the buns up to JR last night. He said there were no excuses for JR to not be aware of the availability of GF alternatives.

Some time later.

We are back from our little adventure. Traffic in town is of rush hour proportions at 12pm. We are picked up very late. I’m not permitted into the airport to watch her get ready. Without going into details I miss the landing which is in the hotel area in the opposite direction. She is already down by the time I get there having had the most amazing experience; this is her first jump and I doubt very much it will be her last. The pics I have are from the video that was taken. She also has a CD of pictures but I don’t have a disc

The reserved seating is either side of the pool bar. Pics taken at 11am. There is no-one on board!! Lol. Even on my return at 3am there are no towels there or indeed anyone sat there!! WIll comment on towel colour should it become obvious....

Linda-here on Cruise Critic, it has been announced that RCCL is trying new alcohol packages. Have you heard anything about the Adventure moving in the direction of unlimited alcohol for an additional $55.00 a day?

Angela

I will see what I can find out for you. They certainly don't have the glass of wine package.....

Was just about to log off.....

About 15 feet away.

'Where's the bingo?'

I ignore this.

'WHERE'S THE BINGO?'

I continue to ignore this.

'HOLA. HOLA. WHERE'S THE BINGO?'

'Yo no traberjo aqui.' (sp)

'YO NO TRABERJO AQUI?' or shouted words to that effect

'Non. And you are rude beyond belief.'

Sigh

We were on the TA in a GS, there were towels on the suite area chairs but they were the regular blue ones, the only gold towels that we saw were in the spa.

There were also a pair of the same towels left in our cabin so we did not have to sign towels out at all.

Yeap. I sit in the the area outside the conference centre in a pod in front of the screening room. It is advertised as a place to access wifi but the conference centre itself has been closed off all week... .regardless of what I am wearing I get asked questions..... usually in Spanish..... sometimes I help if they are nice and I know the answers.... that man was just obnoxious.....

We had a wonderful meal at Pincho’s. There were 6 of us and we easily picked up a cab outside the terminal. He gave us his card to arrange to be brought back $20 each way. The meal was excellent. You can find the menu on-line. The location was spectacular; on a pier set out beyond the beach. Just lovely.

Came back and paid a visit to the Champagne Bar to pass on the message as requested previously. Would have had a Framboise Mimosa but they are out of the raspberry liqueur so settled for a Baileys Coffee thing. Yum. Spent some time chatting with my friends there and they then proceeded to educate me in the art of Blackjack in the Casino. I did not do well.

We left Aruba around 10. Just as I was wondering whether the horn would sound at this late hour it did! I’ve just popped down to the piano bar and there are few people there. There is only one show on tonight at 1030pm so everyone is in there. The ‘Dancing Under The Stars’ poolside party starts at 11 so I will grab some pics before heading for bed.

There’s a lift that still says Wednesday. That’s confusing.

Have been up to deck 11. It scares me. I take pics and hightail it out of there….. the crowds of people desperate for more food. They are shoving each other aside…. And that’s just to get pictures of the fruit tables. They are still setting up and the atmosphere is tense with anticipation. Crew members are running around… there is much intense conversation going on…. As if their very lives depended on it - the purveying of food, alcohol and entertainment has reached epic proportion…. This is very worrying. I clearly need more alcohol to understand this ritual because its purpose defeats me.
