bunchesofun Posted November 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2012 I know this has been asked hundreds of times, but I did a search and didn't come up with anything. I know the specialty coffee dessert bar is not free. The only other thing (besides drinks/pop) I can think of is the sushi bar. I'm traveling with two teens and want to let them know in advance so they don't order something thinking it's free.
surfjock27 Posted November 21, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2012 You pay for specialty drinks, soda, bingo, casino, spa, steakhouse, taste bar (not sure if your sailing has this), sushi. That's what I have off the top of my head.

You're correct. I forgot to put the word "drinks" after taste bar. The signature drink that day (associated) with the menu is $5. Thanks for clearing that up Emelvee. bunchesofun Posted November 21, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted November 21, 2012 Okay, most of the other things I knew about but didn't know if there were any other food venues that might catch them. We're talking teenage boys with hollow legs! Thanks for the tips!
Brenna's Mom1 Posted November 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2012 Simple...if they ask for your card its not FREE. That's all you need to tell your boys. Or better yet, just don't let them carry the card around with them. Problem solved.
serene56 Posted November 21, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 21, 2012 you can turn their cards off -- tell them at check in you do not want them to have charging privileges. most stuff that is charged will have a sign on it--- with the dollar amount. (like the cake place-- yummy desserts, choc strawberries, milk shakes.. all for a fee.) if you go to any bar-- there will be a charge for anything there. if you get it yourself-- its free. someone getting it for you-- there is a fee

They might want to get into their cabin. :) We tell our daughter to carry her card with her (she's 11)...we will just monitor her spending or give her an allotment for use during our next cruise. She was pretty excited last cruise when she had to sign for a purchase. lol

Snostar Posted November 21, 2012 #12 Share Posted November 21, 2012 I am pretty sure you can limit their spending also at check-in or guest services. On my last cruise I allotted each of my sons $10 a day on their S&S card (they already had the soda card). That way they could have a little freedom. If they chose not use the money and wanted one more expensive item. I would get it for them, but they knew they had a $100 leisure spending limit for the vacation. You only have to pay for sushi if the ship has a sushi restaurant, such as the Breeze. At the sushi place that is open in the early evening (usually 5 to 7) it is free. This is on deck 5 on some ships. On the splendor it sometimes serves other treats instead of sushi. What ship will you be on? We're talking teenage boys with hollow legs! Thanks for the tips! Two things that are always available and free are the pizza station and the soft serve ice cream. It may not be "high cuisine", but it'll fill a teenager's hollow leg.:D
Andoria Posted November 21, 2012 #16 Share Posted November 21, 2012 My boneheaded teen opened up the water bottle in the stateroom (thinking it was complimentary) within 30 seconds of his arrival. It isn't like he's never traveled from home before. I was going to tease him about it more but then I found out my parents thought the same thing.
