ATM in Port Vila?

Are there atms easily accessible in Port Vila? I assumed there would be but on an atm finder website it came up as having none.

Very easily accesible in town :) There is even an ANZ bank branch with ATM's on the main street of Vila.

There are 9 ANZ ATMs in Port Vila.

6 Westpac in Port Vila

6 National Bank of Vanuatu in Port Vila.

Be aware however that there are reports that if you try to use a credit card to access a linked savings account it will not allow you to access the savings account. You need a card for that savings account.

Naturally the currency available will be vatu and your bank will probably charge you a foreign currency conversion fee. I would prefer to take extra AUD with me and don't bother with vatu at all.

seems a lot of ATM'S for a small town, but as been said most places in Vila take aussie dollars

Are you wanting some local currency? If so, you dont need it as they happily accept aussie dollars.

I was just being cautious because I am doing a private tour and want to make sure I can access Vatu if they want to be paid in it. :)

No worries, they will take AUD and they will barter with you ... Many operators will be in your face to get your business.

Unless they have stipulated Vatu, it is reasonable to assume they will accept AUD. :)

They will accept AUD notes only, but there is often a better price for Vatu. Back in February the official exchange rate was about 1:1 so $1 = 100 Vatu, but the unofficial rate was 1.5:1 so a 10 Vatu item was $15 AUD

 

I took a couple of hundred dollars in Vatu with me and used it for tours and local purchases, if you are buying Duty Free they also offer a better price in Vatu.

 

There are ATMs located down town.
