silverwillow Posted November 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Are there atms easily accessible in Port Vila? I assumed there would be but on an atm finder website it came up as having none. Thanks.

6andy6 Posted November 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2012 There are 9 ANZ ATMs in Port Vila. 6 Westpac in Port Vila 6 National Bank of Vanuatu in Port Vila. Simple...you just need to Google their websites and it shows you. Be aware however that there are reports that if you try to use a credit card to access a linked savings account it will not allow you to access the savings account. You need a card for that savings account.
Aus Traveller Posted November 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Naturally the currency available will be vatu and your bank will probably charge you a foreign currency conversion fee. I would prefer to take extra AUD with me and don't bother with vatu at all.

Thanks. Silverwillow Just wondering why are you asking about ATMs? Are you wanting some local currency? If so, you dont need it as they happily accept aussie dollars. silverwillow Posted November 26, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted November 26, 2012 I was just being cautious because I am doing a private tour and want to make sure I can access Vatu if they want to be paid in it. :)
Miamia65 Posted November 27, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 27, 2012 No worries, they will take AUD and they will barter with you ... Many operators will be in your face to get your business. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

GHDPeter Posted November 28, 2012 #11 Share Posted November 28, 2012 They will accept AUD notes only, but there is often a better price for Vatu. Back in February the official exchange rate was about 1:1 so $1 = 100 Vatu, but the unofficial rate was 1.5:1 so a 10 Vatu item was $15 AUD I took a couple of hundred dollars in Vatu with me and used it for tours and local purchases, if you are buying Duty Free they also offer a better price in Vatu. There are ATMs located down town.
