Poer or starboard on Alaska R/T from Seattle?

We're sailing on Celebrity Solstice in July 2013 on a roundtrip from Seattle. Since I know we'll be going north and then back southbound, does port or starboard balcony cabin matter? Thanks for any insight.

We were on the starboard side of the ship on the Star Princess when we sailed RT out of Seattle. We saw beautiful sunsets nearly every night, and had a good view of Sawyer Glacier from our balcony.

 

Alaska is awesome. We've been there twice and still want to go back for more!

Agreed. The scenery is 360 degrees, and you aren't locked in your cabin, limiting your view to only one side. This is discussed regularly on this board.

With an itinerary out of Seattle it really doesn't matter, you won't see anything for the best part of a day in either direction and when you do enter the inside passage what you miss on one side northbound you will see southbound. If you were leaving out of Vancouver then I find a starboard side location to be superior.

We were sailing from Vancouver north bound, and a starboard side is better as u can see the land while port side can only see open sea.

 

For Seattle RT, guess it doesn't matter as you would be sailing south bound on the return leg.

 

So whatever u miss when u sail northbound, u can see on the way back :)

Despite living in Alaska we have done two Alaskan cruises. One was a RT out of Seattle. It really doesn't make any difference whether your stateroom is on the port or starboard side.

I have been out of Seattle and Vancouver and have been on both sides. I don't think it makes a lot of difference , but I seem to go more on the starboard side for some reason, not sure why LOL:D Bill
