Yes, they are called cruises to nowhere and are generally 2 nights.

On the West coast there are 3 day repositioning cruises. Usually So California to Vancouver or Seattle. Late April/May and late September/October.

 

For many sea days you could also book a Hawaii cruise RT from SoCal usually 4 sea days in either direction. Also look at ships repo'ing from Europe to the Carribbean. Those can have 6 sea days.

 

Look at Cunard for 6 sea day cruises back and forth from Southamptom-NYC.

My last TA was 14 days and only stopped in Lisbon and the Madeira Islands. The rest were all sea days.

We prefer the sea days also....we loved having 3 on the Dream! I know some people hate the sea days and only cruise for the ports.....but I wouldn't care if the ship got out in the middle of ocean and cruised in circles for 5 days! (We do love Key West though...that is one port that we try to book cruises going to)

Our upcoming 6 day cruise on the flagship, the Breeze has three days at sea and only 2 port stops at Grand Turk and Montego Bay. There are some great cheap rates left on some cabins as well.

My TA in April is 11 nights - 1 port.

Inspiration leaves la (Long Beach) at 5:30 at night. Gets to Catalina in the morning. 12 hours cruising through 26 miles-- you figure it out!:D;)
