Emerald Sanctuary

Can't answer for the Emerald specifically but I assume it's the same for all ships with a Sanctuary. On the Island in September/October, the rate was $10/half day, $20/day; or if you booked the entire cruise, $15/day. So yes, you can book the entire cruise and the rate is $15/day/person. I was able to book it on day 1 of my B2B for both cruises, a 2-day from Vancouver to SF, then 15-days from SF to FLL.

Can't imagine staying in a spot with a roof overhead for a cruise.i bet it is HOT?

We just got off the cb and the sanctuary was in no way hot. While there is a roof, it is louvered and you are also on deck 17 where it can be very windy. Not sure why you would think it to be hot.

Have you ever actually spent any time in a Sanctuary? I have never found it hot as there is always a nice breeze, even under the roof. There are people who cannot tolerate being in the sun for a long period of time and the Sanctuary is a perfect spot for them. The beauty of cruising is that there is something for everyone to enjoy. I personally cannot understand why people are willing to lose money in a casino, but it's their choice and no one forces me into going there. I will definitely be booking the Sancturary during my next cruise.

I will have to go check it out.I imagined it to be enclosed top and sides with glass like a giant sun room with no outdoor breezes, but able to see everything outside.:)
On the Grand-class ships with a Sanctuary, some sections have a canvas shade with open areas and some are out in the sun. Even when docked, there's a breeze because it's on an upper deck and forward. No more hot than sitting out by the pool. As a matter of fact, probably more comfortable because you can choose to not be in direct sunlight the entire day.

Here's a photo I took of the Sapphire Sanctuary last May. You can see the open areas between the canvas.

We plan to reserve a Sanctuary spot for the full length of our upcoming cruise. Does anybody know if DH and myself can reserve one spot for both of us to share (at different times, of course)?

Can it just be put with our cabin number, instead of a specific name? I have scoured the FAQ page, and also searched our cruise critic forums.

You can share a lounger as long as you're not there at the same time. I don't know officially but I don't see why not.

On my Island cruise, a group of seven booked five loungers on the day we transited the Panama Canal. They were loud, screaming at the other ships and people on shore, and generally partying and being obnoxious. The attendant asked them to make sure there were just five of them because they had just booked that many. They gave him a hard time, saying the extras planned to be there for only a couple of hours. He couldn't get them to quiet down or to leave. They shouted obscenities at the poor attendant, telling him to bugger off. The extras finally left after an hour and a half. :(

My point is that the attendant didn't care who was using the lounger as long as there was the proper number and among those who book. When booking, just let them know you'll share and won't be there at the same time.
