mickey Posted December 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2012 Hi: I've been searching the Asia thread for any recommendations for a tour guide for Beijing and the surrounding area. We will be there after a cruise, with Beijing being the last port. We plan to stay on for three or four days. Does anyone have any recommendations? We arrive on March 23. Thanks for any help. suncityga Posted December 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2012 Hi:I've been searching the Asia thread for any recommendations for a tour guide for Beijing and the surrounding area. We will be there after a cruise, with Beijing being the last port. We plan to stay on for three or four days. Does anyone have any recommendations? We arrive on March 23. Thanks for any help. We also did a post cruise in Beijing in March of 2011. We stayed 4 nights at the Capital Hotel in Beijing and very close to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Highly recommend it ! ! ! We worked the booking for the hotel, the tours and all the transportation online with a company called ChinaTour.Net. Our local guide in Beijing was Wang Jia Oi (Jenny) and she did a great job as a guide for us. Our Beijing 3 day tour package included... Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, an acrobatic show at night, Birdsnest Olympic Stadium, Badaling Great Wall, Ming Tombs, duck dinner at Quanjude Restaurant, Beijing Zoo for pandas, Hutong, and the Lama Temple. We had a small group (8) during our tour and we covered a lot of ground. We enjoyed it very much. Have a great trip... China is fantactic ! ! ! Rare Turtles06 Posted December 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2012 A year and a half ago, based on recommendations on Trip Advisor, my partner and I used Sunflower Lee as our guide for two days in Beijing (and a trip to the Great Wall at Mutianyu). She was absolutely wonderful, she took great care of us, and went above and beyond what we had booked her for. She was also delightful (her "sunflower" nickname is totally apt) and it felt as though we were touring the city with a friend. Her email is: sunflower9811@hotmailDOTcom (replace the DOT with a period, of course) I will make one other suggestion: if you are able to attend the private "Wine 'N Dine" at Black Sesame Kitchen, you will have one of the most memorable meals of your life. http://www.blacksesamekitchen.com/ In the event it is of any help to you, here's my summary of the three and a half days we spent in Beijing prior to our trip with Viking River Cruises: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=29264391&postcount=4680 Beijing is an amazing city. Have a great trip!
mustgo Posted December 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Thanks for posting about tourchina.net. We are thinking about doing one or two of their small bus tours in Beijing. It is good to see a positive review.
