nimiq Posted December 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Hello All, Has anyone us Priceline to bid for Fort Lauderdale Hotel and how did it go ? What did you get ? We used it on our last cruise out of Miami and we got a great rate of 96$ for the Intercontinental downtown area. We would be in Fort Lauderdale for 2 nights before our cruise. thx Eric
lidopuppy Posted December 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2012 We bid $75 for 4* area 7 and got the Westin Diplomat on first bid both times. Fantastic hotel. Once was last year and the most recent was late January of this year. We are currently trying for 2-23-2013 and aren't having as much luck. We are currently at $135 for 4* and $123 for 3-1/2 in areas 2 and 5 and 7. Good luck bidding. I love this process and have had great success with Priceline many times. This time seems to be more difficult than others.

And of course you don't mention the area you are interested in or the star level. Do what was suggested and review the lists of hotels used by PL on betterbidding.com. Know what you could get and see if you'd be happy with all in that category. If going for one night only, I wouldn't rec the Hollywood area, altho it is a nice beach community. Only because the extra you'll pay in cab fare for a couple transports pretty much cuts into the savings.
mikehn Posted December 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2012 Just be informed that some of the hotels in ft lauderdale charge a daily parking fee above and beyond your hotel bid/rate. Just be informed so you arent surprised at check-in.

Just be informed so you arent surprised at check-in. NEVER use a bidding site like PL or HW to book a hotel if looking for free parking too. WHen using these sites, you are guaranteed only the room. So whether you park only while a guest or expect to park while cruising, the hotel is in its rights to charge a daily fee. Only fair considering the discounted rate. ;) And some hotels DO charge the fee.
