CRUISIN LINDA Posted December 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2012 I am trying to follow Dave's instructions on how to put thumbnails on here:eek::eek: I have loaded the picture on to irfanview and downsized it, then when I try to save it to my desktop it keeps saying PDF save error. What am I doing wrong?
WeeCountyMan Posted December 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2012 Have you tried Photobucket ? I use it all the time for posting images. Works best with jpeg files in my experience. http://beta.photobucket.com/images/UK/

ekco Posted December 14, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2012 Go into 'Post Reply' then scroll down to 'Manage Attachments'. Click on 'Browse' then go to the folder on your computer where the photo is and open it. It should appear below your post window and when you submit it will be in a thumbnail. Double click to enlarge it. Try below. Jan

CRUISIN LINDA Posted December 14, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted December 14, 2012 Thanks Jan, but it didn't work it kept saying "upload failed" Thanks WCM but I'm not on facebook or twitter. DS had shown me how to do it on tinypics, so here is the picture I have been trying to post since 4.30pm :rolleyes: It is the Dream next to the Oasis of the Seas. It must be the camera angle, but the Dream looks as big if not bigger than Oasis :D:D

davecttr Posted December 15, 2012 #13 Share Posted December 15, 2012 ecko I tried that a while ago but kept saying remote file too large the largest size for a jpg file is 97kb. that is OK for a good image but the pixel size restrictions make for a small image. Yuo either use a remote site with a link like the large piccies on here or you use pdf format thumbnails with a 970kb file size limit as i do. Of course if your irfanview won't create valid pdf's you have a problem

6andy6 Posted December 15, 2012 #17 Share Posted December 15, 2012 It's tooo big! I thought you were ill RR? Jan Thatt pic is not to big at all. In fact it shows perfect detail. The actual embedded cruise critic ones are actually quite poxy and the only thing smaller I've seen is a postage stamp. Often it's hard to pick up any detail...god knows how some of the oldies around here can even see them..
davecttr Posted December 15, 2012 #18 Share Posted December 15, 2012 But why did mine keep saying "PDF save error" ? In English please Dave :D:D:D apparently it is a problem with recent versions of irfanview. the fix should be being worked on? my version of irfanview is an ancient one from 2007 and works fine :o

WeeCountyMan Posted December 16, 2012 #23 Share Posted December 16, 2012 Never used TinyPic before - seems to do the business without using Photobucket. This above the size indicated for forum message boards. Below is for emails, half size of above. Straightforward, even I can manage it !!!
CRUISIN LINDA Posted December 16, 2012 Author #24 Share Posted December 16, 2012 Good isn't it? There are several sizes to chose from! Thanks to my brainy son - he is an IT wizard. Unlike his mother:D:D
WeeCountyMan Posted December 17, 2012 #25 Share Posted December 17, 2012 Please thank your son and heir for flagging up TinyPics. My offspring has an IT degree and works in that field - he'll sort computer problems when visiting us auld folks, but never explains how.
