Booking Shows and Meals on Oasis

Greetings Fellow Cruisers -

Just booked a 7-day on Oasis for the end of May. I'm reading about booking shows and restaurants early, yet our consolidator, CruCon, tells us we need to wait until we make our final payment or get on the ship.

So - to the experts - what are best showtimes? Dinner reservations? Can we enjoy the aqua shows from our mid-ship deck 14 Central Park balcony?

We like to thing we are experienced cruisers, but this mega-ship is a whole different ballgame. We are travelling with another family too - 4 adults, 2 kids and two tweens.

Cheers to you all!

You cannot see aqua shows from central park at all.

You can book shows and dinner reservations before final payment. All you need is your Royal booking number and also Royal has to open bookings for those events.

It's best to book shows on Oasis as soon as they open, which can be 90 days or more ahead of the sailing. Once you have your booking number, you can use it to check Royal's website for the ability to book shows. I'd check periodically, even daily, because the comedy shows book very fast and they are difficult to get into without advance reservations.

Best show times depend on when you eat dinner. We kind of plan shows around that or skip out of dinner if there is a conflict about the show. Most shows have multiple times or even days. Some ice shows will even happen during the day of a sea day. "HairSpray" often has at least one daytime show on sea days.

Aqua shows run at night because that is part of the atmosphere. Aqua shows are often canceled due to weather or high winds. There is one day- time aqua show, the funny Splish Splash show geared to children.

Comedy shows can start around 8:00PM or so, but there will often be a show very late.

I really advise making reservations for the most popular shows. HOwever, that said, if a show is the latest one of the night, you might be able to get in without a reservation. Don't take a chance if you really, really wnat to see a show.

As others say, book ahead of time according to your schedule. There is always conflicts but these can easily be overcome. For example when we went on Allure the only convenient Aqua showtime was on Formal night. We wear Tuxes and Formals so it was not ideal. It meant running from dinner and trying to change quickly and still make the show. Solution.... we simply showed up at a more convenient time earlier in the week and went in stand-by. Figured if we didn't get in then we still had tickets.

Keep in mind that all shows are not performed every night. Decide which are the ones you really want to see and work around those. The aqua show and Blue Planet were 'must see" for us and we did stand-by for the headliner and comedy shows (we got into both). If you go stand-by, get in line early as others have the same idea. Good luck!
