deschoolie Posted December 30, 2012 #51 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Hitting the thermal tile loungers in the thermal suites on the jewel class ships. riddle Posted December 30, 2012 #52 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Walking out of work on that last day before the cruise starts. I want time to stand still at that point but it never happens!
RIvacationgirl Posted December 30, 2012 Author #53 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Walking out of work on that last day before the cruise starts. I want time to stand still at that point but it never happens! I always say I have that "pre-vacation glow" on my face on that last day of work before vacation! It is a wonderful feeling as you walk to your car knowing you do not have to return for a while!:p
DCP Posted December 30, 2012 #54 Share Posted December 30, 2012 My balcony. Always will have one on a cruise. I am not a big party person, and having that private place to be able to enjoy the view is priceless. This is my vacation splurge.
Davechipp74 Posted December 30, 2012 #55 Share Posted December 30, 2012 my vacation starts before i even get to the ship, its when the limo pulls into my driveway for the quick hour ride to my cruise terminal :)
signora Posted December 31, 2012 #56 Share Posted December 31, 2012 Sounds fabulous, do all rooms have robes or just the Suites? You don't need a suite to get a robe: if you have a balcony you're entitled to one. Just ask your cabin attendant. But the last time we had them, we ended up buying two we enjoyed them so much! faith4keep Posted January 1, 2013 #58 Share Posted January 1, 2013 I know I'm on vacation when I hear the music playing as I board the ship. I usually dance along because I'm so excited! My favorite splurge, though, is visiting Cagney's. Steakhouses are just so expensive in the "real world". I love that I get to eat my heart out and not worry about the final bill! RIvacationgirl Posted January 2, 2013 Author #60 Share Posted January 2, 2013 Spa package for wife and I. A massage at the spa is a special treat I only have when I am on vacation. I am going to look into a spa package next time. Many people recommend this. :)
callmebetty Posted January 2, 2013 #61 Share Posted January 2, 2013 Calling my grandma and telling her we are on board. This year I will face time her from the top deck and show her where we are lounging since she has an iPad now! I am 33 but still talk to granny everyday. If signal permits, I will take her on a tour of the casino so she can pick out a lucky machine for me! In hubby's opinion, vacation starts when I lock my electronics in the safe;) There is nothing better than getting on board and just sitting with a drink in hand
JMHAM1 Posted January 2, 2013 #62 Share Posted January 2, 2013 Having the cabin made up with fresh towels, etc whenever I go back in there says vaca to me. Not having to cook or clean and being able to do whatever, whenever.

EileenN Posted January 2, 2013 #64 Share Posted January 2, 2013 When we first enter the room and open the balcony doors, we start a routine of playing Andre Bochelli's "Time to Say Goodbye" as the ship pulls out and the wind enters the room. It emptys my brain and ignites my relax mode. It is a wonderful place to be...for however long.
tutuwahineLV Posted January 2, 2013 #65 Share Posted January 2, 2013 my favorite splurge, the spa pass for the week. Being able to have nothing you have to do, and all day to do it, AND a heated lounger to do it on..... would scream I'm on vacation but that would disrupt the serenity that settles into my bones. :D

On the Dawn, I especially liked the Japanese hot/cold plunge baths in the mens shower room. I hope they have them on the Gem!
