Venice -San Basilio Pier to train station

LTCOP

Recommended Posts

We will be finishing our cruise in Venice next summer and understand that our ship (Star Clipper) uses the San Basilio Pier in Venice. Does anyone have any information on the best way to get to the Santa Lucia train station from that pier?

Thanks,

Pam

"Best" means different things to different people.

At the high end, you could take a private water taxi directly from the pier to the train station. My best guess would be 60 - 75 Euro, but you can get a price estimate for this service here: http://www.motoscafivenezia.it/eng/?gclid=CJXOjsX4urQCFQqe4AodB2QAUw

You could also take a land taxi from the pier to Piazzale Roma, then walk (with your luggage, of course) across the bridge over the canal to the train station. Alternately, you could take a vaporetto one stop from Piazzale Roma across the canal to the station.

You could also take a vaporetto directly from San Basilio to the train station (line 2). http://actv.it/

Have you checked with your cruise line to see if they are making any arrangements? I think it's possible that a line such as Star Clippers might make arrangements for transfer of its passengers to somewhere such as Piazzale Roma - quality line, and not many passengers!

Simple take the Vaporetto from the San Basilio landing adjacent to the Cruise Pier direct to the landing right at the St. Lucia station which is a couple of stops from San Basilio. Just be careful that you catch the Vaporetto in the Direction of Piazzale de Roma and the Grand Canal . Some vaporettos terminate at P d R . If so then walk over the modern looking footbridge from Piazzale de Roma and you are right at Venezia St Lucia station .

Be careful to take the Vaporetto proceeding towards P d R as the service runs in both directions from the San Basilio landing .

Why on earth would you get off the vaporetto at Piazzale Roma and walk across the bridge when you could simply stay on for one more stop and get off right at the train station?
