Ship to airport in Hamburg?

Can someone please tell me how much time we should allow to get from the cruise port to Hamburg airport on a weekday morning in August? Our ship is due to dock at 7 a.m. (I know that doesn't always happen) and the co. is recommending that flights not be booked until 12:30. This makes me think that either it's quite lengthy for the ship to clear all the docking formalities, or the trip is lengthy - or both! Thanks for whatever info. you can provide.

The airport of Hamburg is quite close to city center, so I guess the travel time from either of the two cruise terminals will be about 30 minutes by taxi, a little longer perhaps with morning rush hour traffic. Taking public transportation from the cruise terminals to the airport is somewhat complicated with luggage, as you would have to do a few changes of trains or busses.

It took us about 30 mins at 6AM on a Saturday, so I think a bit later and on a week day would take longer than that.
