Q3 Grills Penthouse

Hello,

having just returned from Q. Victoria on Saturday from what was our first experience of the famed "Grills". I did ask a few questions on here before leaving and I did say I would post of our voyage aboard Q. Victoria.

I have to add we have plenty of experience of Cunard.

We have nothing but positives to take away from our 16 nights.

We would urge anyone to try it if you feel inclined. Of course the

individual has to justify the cost difference and want to make the step up in the

first place. We all know there are deals to be had from time to time and this

could well be a way for people to give it a go.

The food has been the best we have ever had on any ship. The ability to eat

from the a-la-carte menu as opposed to the normal evening menu a big plus. Also

not forgetting the opportunity to ask the chef to cook or prepare something

totally different.

Among other dishes I asked him to prepare a included a curry with all the condiments and very nice it was too.

Service was excellent in the restaurant as is the setting. Never full with its open

sitting policy of dining between 6.30P.M. And 9.00P.M.

The suite and its size a welcome change. The balcony is twice the width of a

normal one and ours on Deck 4 benefits from being slightly deeper as well.

What I would say is Cunard's description of the stateroom describing it as a Penthouse is a bit of a misnomer. I would describe it as a Suite albeit a very well appointed one.

The Grills Lounge is a nice enough room. It is a lovely room to sit in on a sea

day but for pre-dinner drinks I am a creature of habit and I think it will take dynamite to

prise me away from my favoured C. Club.

The private area outside and the sunbathing terrace above are a welcome

change for sunbathing away from the masses. The extra thick mattresses are a big

plus. In the morning fruit plates are readily available from a waiter as are

juice and water. A nice touch. Early afternoon he or she reappears with ice

cream.

The butler, Well we have asked very little of him

and that was the way we wanted it. He and his assistant did enough without

being intrusive. Exactly as we had hoped.

We did host a pre-dinner drinks get together and he did an excellent job of dealing with it. He seemed pleased enough with his tip for that little extra. We left the gratuities in place.

He replaced beers and wines as and when they were needed.

We never felt the need to use the Concierge.

It is something we would do again if we felt the time was right and more

importantly the cost.

Iain

Thanks Iain for your informative review of QV and Queens Grill. Our first experience of QV will be in March from Hong Kong to Dubai, also in Queens Grill. From your review it sound like QV will provide the same level of service we have experienced on QM2 & QE2. All very exciting!

Nice review, hallsuk2, I'd totally agree! I crossed QV westbound PG January of '10 and felt it the best experience. It's good value, Cunard's "Grill Heaven," the jump from Britannia well worth the $$$.
