Excursions for seniors: St. Martin & St. Thomas

Recommended Posts

My parents, in their 70's but get about quite well, are looking for excursions on the Freedom Eastern tinerary.

Interests are historical tours, interesting cultural experiences, and decent food if there is a meal

Ideally, not too much hiking or steep grades. Safety is paramount.

What say y'all.

Thank you,

My suggestion is just to hire a cab (van) and cut a deal with the driver to give you a private tour. We have done this before and found it to be easier and more comforatble than taking the ships tours. Your parents might really enjoy it and it will be more personalized for them.

As far as lunch goes, there are many options on both islands. I like Cafe Amici on St. Thomas (downtown - AH Riise) www.cafeamicistthomas.com

On St. Maarten there are several great places to eat. I would head over to the French side - Grand Case Beach area. You can't go wrong over there. Lolo's doesn't look like much from the outside (open air seating - BBQ restaurant) but it is a favorite amongst the locals and their prices are dirt cheap.

Have a great time with your folks!
