IS the casino opened when in bermuda for 3 days?

OK so 2001 was 12 years ago....why would anyone want to roil the waters in 2013 by bringing up something that may have been in the distant past.

Like I said, I have only been cruising to BDA since 2006, and always had entertainment on board....I sometimes get dramatic and state things like never was.... never will be...

Well, that's for sure.:D

but I also believe that a long lost rule should not be made to appear relevant and scare a lot of unfamiliar travelers...and that would be my point...less the dramatics

That was all you needed to post.;)

Now that everyone is friends again, does anyone have more information about the Government possibly changing the law to allow the casino's to stay open while in port as the article talked about that was linked above? I wonder if this is possible before the Breakaway starts sailing there or not...

I'll give it a shot....The articles, and there were many linked to this topic, were very ambiguous.

Many stated that they, The Bermudian people and Government were shooting themselves in the foot by staunchly opposing Shipboard casinos. There seemed to be some movement for the inevitable acceptance of a 10 PM to 5 AM allowance. It is and was also apparent from the articles that they are losing cruise ship business and a solution must be addressed ASAP.

The fact was mentioned in many articles that Kevin Sheehan would seriously consider moving The 4000+ pax breakaway in 2014 if they did not allow gambling.

All that said I think that very soon we will see some movement in this law towards allowing cruise ship gambling. Whether that happens sooner rather than after the 2103 cruise season is unknown, but I would....venture...to guess...that it will most likely be addressed in the near future and most likely would pass, just for the sake of their economy...which is also struggling like the rest of us.

Just Kev's OPINION.

Thanks for the insight. I hope that your take on this is correct. I'll be sailing in June and would love to have the option of going to the casinos at night. While I have never been to Bermuda, it seems to me it is kind of unique in that you are there for three days versus the regular sailing from port to port that most ships do. So this creates a relatively unusual situation that most posts don't have to contend with.
