Thermal Suite Question

On the Westerdam last month, we enjoyed the thermal suite and hydro pool. But I have a question about the steam rooms. A description I found from a 2006 review said that there were three steam rooms, each with a different aromatherapy scent. Is each of those three rooms supposed to have steam? We experienced one with eucalyptus and one with peppermint, but the third one did not have any steam and did not have any detectable scent.

On the Zuiderdam in December, there were 3 little rooms: one a dry sauna and two steam rooms. The first had an eucalyptus scent and the other so hot that it seared any smelling ability before a scent could be discerned. :D

On the Noordam, one room is a cold "quiet meditation" room. I asked one of the ladies at the front desk.

We were on Zuiderdam in November, and you are absolutely correct. I have been in my share of steam rooms in men's health clubs, and have never experienced a temperature like that one. I was glad none of my buddies were with me, else it would have turned into a macho endurance thing, with potential fatal consequences.

I wonder if the cold "quiet meditation room" was designed as such, or did the ladies at the front desk get creative and rename it that after it stopped working?
