Miami Int. - Key West -Miami Beach -Cape Canaveral -tips please ?

We are flying into Miami Intl. Airport and planning of renting a car and drive down to Key West, and spend 3 days there.

Then back to Miami Beach, returning the car to the rental company, as we are in no need of the car there. Planning 3 or 4 days there.

The question is, how do we get to Cape Canaveral from Miami Beach with no rental car ?

Are there buses og train ? How far is it from Miami Beach to Cape Canaveral ?

We are 4 adults with luggage;)

Going on Freedom September 29th 2013.

Any tips is appreciated:)

my recommendation will be to rent a car for the drive. You've got about 200 miles to go. The drive is easy - straight north up I-95

train - nope. There are busses but do you really want to go Greyhound?

Lot's of people do one day rental car to get to Canaveral. Your company options are Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty, Budget, Enterprise, Alamo, National and Payless. These are the companies with offices in Cape Canaveral.

Are you driving up day of the cruise or day b4? If day b4, the car allows you to explore the area and dinner options . . .

from trip advisor:

"The driving trip from MIA to Port Canaveral is about 225 miles, mostly via Interstate 95. It would take about 3 1/2 hours (without stops) in regular traffic, longer if you run into heavy Miami traffic. There are offices for most major rental companies near Port Canaveral, and they would usually shuttle you to your hotel or the port.

If you prefer to not drive, you can also fly nonstop from MIA to MCO on American, Delta, Continental, or United. From MCO, there are shuttles directly to the port or nearby hotels. Check the MCO website under "transportation". Fares would be in the $120-150 range, and the shuttle would be another $35-50.

Greyhound buses do run between Miami and Melbourne twice daily, and from there you could take local buses about 25 miles to the port, but the lower cost would result in a lot of inconvenience -- as many as 4 buses. The local bus system in Melbourne and Port Canaveral is Space Coast Area Transit, or SCAT.

Your best option to get from Miami to Port Canaveral will be to rent a car and make the drive.
