sscruising Posted June 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Four of us will be cruising to Antigua in August and primarily want to spend a lot of time at the beach. Can you suggest where to go and the types of activities and amenities available? We'd like to book our own excursion with perhaps a short tour. I hear that Lawrence of Antigua is excellent. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks! Sandi
Zeno Posted June 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2004 We did a tour with Lawrence in Feb and were VERY pleased. His van is spotless and air-conditioned. He is very professional and adaptable to what you want and his prices are very reasonable. We went to English Harbour and saw the National Historic Park sites (Nelson's Dockyard, Dow's Hill Interpretation Centre, the Blockhouse, Shirley Heights - a $5 fee admits you to ALL the National Historic Park sites and includes tours at Nelson's Dockyard and at Dow's Hill (in addition to the tour Dow's Hill has a pleasant multi-media presentation). The views are spectacular from Dow's Hill, Shirley Heights and the Blockhouse. At sites were there is no tour, Lawrence will point out everything of interest (including spots to get the best pictures). He is very careful that you get your money's worth at the Historical sites (made sure we got on any included tours etc). He NEVER rushes you. After the viewing the Historic Park sites (takes about 3 hours), he took us to Devil's Bridge (a sea arch) - good photo ops and then to a beach (Long Bay Beach in our case) where he left us to swim and enjoy ourselves (we decided how long we wanted to stay). He picked us up exactly on time and returned us to the ship.
