If anyone rented a car at these ports: Huahine, Raiatea, Moorea, can you tell me who you rented with their prices and if you felt it was worth doing instead of an organized tour?

I've rented from Pacific Car several times on Huahine and Moorea. I have found they generally have the cleanest cars.

I've also rented from EuropeCar & Alberts but have found Pacific Car superior.

How far in advance did you rent a vehicle in Moorea?

I always do it as soon as I book cruise.

We've had poor luck with Avis on Moorea--dont usually rent cars any longer--We just go with Bruno on Raitia and usually Marc on Huahine--there is also a female boat owner on Huahine that I seem to have a hard time finding in the past few years but enjoy being with her.

Any luck with booking car on Easter Island? I have emailed twice and gotten no reply yet. We get there in late April 2013

I've rented from all of the places on Moorea and IMO have found Avis/Pacificar (same outfit) to have the best/newer car selection. Not always the cheapest but for a few dollars more I always get a very new, cleaner car with low miles and everything works well.

I currently have reservations with Europcar in Huahine (Fare Island). It says the office is in front of the post office. Any idea how far it is from the cruise port? Do you think if there is a location at the cruise port they will honor the -mail confirmation?

There are 2 mooring locations on Huahine. It does not matter which location the ship moors at, the car rental agencies will have their cars sitting there waiting for you to get off the tenders. I've never had a reantal place in FP not honor a reservation.
