greeneg Posted January 26, 2013 #52 Share Posted January 26, 2013 First, Haifa, Israel. My eyes fill when I see the Blue and White Flag flying freely in the breeze. Second, Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona is unique. Third, Venice, Italy. Venice is magic. Fourth, Istanbul, Turkey. Vibrant and Friendly. Lot's to see and do. I could add others...... kathynorth Posted January 26, 2013 #53 Share Posted January 26, 2013 ST. Thomas. On the other hand, if Sanibel Island, Fl was a cruist port it would be equal to the aforesaid. Lol, we like to think of Sanibel as our special place. ;)
kathynorth Posted January 26, 2013 #54 Share Posted January 26, 2013 Just looked up Sanibel island... So pretty. Where do you stay when on the island? Thanks for the tip Joanne If we stay for 7 nights we usually book at one of the many condo complexes on the beach. For shorter stays we go with West Wind Inn (Sanibel side) or Tween Waters Inn (Captiva side), depending on what specials are running. :)
richsea Posted January 26, 2013 #55 Share Posted January 26, 2013 Wow, tough one! I guess if I had to pick a first, it would be our hometown of New York (not Bayonne). Just sailing down the Hudson, passing the former WTC, the Statue of Liberty seeming so close you can touch it, & finally the Verrazzano Bridge, is an amazing experience. After NY would be: Hamilton, Bermuda- So quaint & peaceful gliding past the beautiful homes. St. Thomas- Without a doubt the prettiest harbor in the Caribbean. Istanbul- we were awakened by the call to prayer as we sailed in at dawn; & to view the mosques all lit uo was an experience I will never forget. Also as someone mentioned, sailing down the Baspherus at night was amazing. We've never sailed into Venice, but that is definitely on our buket list. If anyone is interested please advise, and I will post the procedure for processing said shells.
