Brewers Bay vs Smugglers Cove

Brewer's - Nicole's beach bar, good burger, some snorkeling, chair rentals.

Smuggler's - Nicest beach no question, best snorkeling, no amenities except portapotties, bring a cooler.

Thanks, can we get a taxi from ship to Smugglers - have read that the road is not very good.

The road from Long Bay to Smuggler's is unpaved but you just drive slower, not that far. Taxi is $64 for 1 person, $32pp for 2, and $24pp for 3 or more. Taxi to Brewer's is $48, 24, and 16. But Smuggler's is a very nice beach for a day and less crowded.

There's a great French deli in town with excellent imported cheeses and meats, their baguette subs are very good and I believe they sell wine and beer. But you dock at Wickams Cay I and it's located at Wickams Cay II, not that far by taxi but in the wrong direction. But what great sandwiches ask the driver how much and how long to stop there, here's their site -

  • 3 weeks later...

A few questions....

Are the portapotties at Smugglers clean?

Is there any place at Smugglers to buy drinks, snacks etc?

We have a 10 year old. Which beach would be more suitable for him?

From what I have read, tortola seems to be a safe destination. Any concerns at either beach?

Thanks!

Are these return taxi fares or one way- they seem a little high. I went to CGB a couple of years ago and it was much cheaper than this.

How much for 4 people return to Brewers ? Thanks

We were at brewers bay a few weeks ago with our 13 yr old daughter and all I can say is WOW. Nicoles bar is right there for drinks and food. The snorkeling was unreal, I have never seen so many fish. There is a rock area to the left to walk along and find some really neat rocks and shells. There were also tons on little hermit crabs to look for :) Beautiful day, perfect water and awesome snorkeling!!!!!

These prices are roundtrip, per person. For 4 to CGB or BB $64 roundtrip., for 4 to SC $96 roundtrip.

they're portapotties in a secluded spot so would not count on it.

No amenities at SC.

Brewer's has all amenities (one beach bar w/ restrooms. Cane Garden Bay has 6 beach bars as well as water toy rentals. CGB will be very crowded so just depends on the experience you want. For snorkeling choose BB.

No concerns at all, very safe island.
