Galveston:Traffic to port with parades

Hey,

Has anybody had a hard time getting to port of Galveston for their cruise due to Mardi Gras parade traffic? Will there be road closures and detours trying to get there? We will be leaving during the last weekend of the Mardi Gras Celebration there and I read that it can be very crowded.

For your cruise weekend, there will be downtown parades Friday night and Saturday afternoon & early evening. None on Sunday.
