Tokyo hotels(Yokohama cruise)

We'll be staying in Tokyo a few days before a Japan cruise. We want a hotel right there by Tokyo Bay, but not terribly terribly far from the port(Yokohama) or Haneda Airport. We found the Intercontinental, which isn't too far from Tokyo Tower either. Is this a good choice? Also, are cabs easily obtainable... will just take that to the pier on sail day.

You should consult a map before making any further plans.

A taxi ride from Haneda to downtown Tokyo will cost you over $100 at night and about $60 during the day. Travel time is one hour during the day and 30 minutes at night.

A taxi from Tokyo to the Yokohama Cruise Terminal will cost you around $200. Travel time can be up to 2 hours by taxi.

There are some great hotels very close to Yokohama Cruise Terminal.

Maybe better to stay there and take the train into Tokyo.

Express train from Yokohama to Tokyo Station costs around $6 and takes about 27 minutes.

Hi,

I did a cruise from Yokohama in June 2012 and also visited Tokyo last month. International flights into Haneda airport arrive late in the night. The last train I think departs at 12.30am.

Instead of booking a hotel in Tokyo, I booked a hotel room in Kamata which is 2 stops away from Haneda. In case if the flight is delayed, it would not cost too much to take a taxi to the hotel. We then transfer to another hotel in Shinagawa on the next day for our stay in Tokyo. Go check out Shinagawa Prince Hotel (it is just across the Shinagawa station). Youwant want to consider going straigth to Shinagawa Prince hotel from hotel since the last train goes there.

It is convenient going from Shinagawa station to the Yokohama port. It is 17min from Shinagawa station to Yokohama station and then a 7min transfer to Nihon-Odori, all-in costing less than US$6 per person. BTW, if you want to check out train rides around Tokyo, go http://www.hyperdia.com.

Hope these help.
