Flying from New York area to New Orleans?? Advice??

I am planning a cruise in Sept and am looking at airfare and its crazy! I have looked at all the area airports (JFK, LGA, White Plains, Bradley, Providence) I cannot find anything under 500.00. Has anyone seen anything or is this too early. Basically the airfare will dictate which cruise we will take. (really want to go from New Orleans)

In fact, doing a whole month search for an 8-night stay starting any date in September, there are non-stop flights for around $300 round-trip pretty much every day bar one or two.
