Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach

Has anyone stayed on the Queen Mary in Long Beach? Did you find it good value? What is there to see and how is/are the restaurant/s?

It's a bit old and small and dark. But the history behind it is pretty awesome.

 

We have eaten onboard in the restaurant and it was quite good. About $120 for 4 people, so not too bad, but not a bargain either. It's really convenient if you'll be jumping on the Carnival ship the next day!

I worked on the Queen Mary for 4 years. The ship is beautiful, vert art deco. The hotel can be a so so experience depending on the type of room you book. Restaurants were all pretty good. Its definately an interesting stay, especially at night when you can wander the empty ship alone exploring stuff.

Have you checked the reviews on tripadvisor.com? That would be the first thing I would do. :)

We stayed there 9 or 10 years ago. We booked one of the larger rooms with a view of the pride. It was a bit expensive but we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The food in the restaurants was good. It was a great experience.

I just came back from visiting Long Beach and the Queen Mary. Its in a wonderful area and the Long Beach runs a free transit bus that takes you to a host of downtown restaraunts and many near the Aquarium and Seashore Village. Its a really wonderful well run area. You could also stay at the Hyatt and have the same amenities and a short bus ride to port or Queen Mary.

We spent 1 night on the Queen Mary last year. We just soaked up all the atmosphere! Our cabin was neat, the bathroom was small, but adequate. The tour underneath the ship is quite interesting. Not much to do at night. The shops were cute. Everything had a sort of “struggling to maintain” atmosphere, but it was still an adventure. One night would be enough to get the feel of being on a “voyage.” Hope you enjoy the feeling as much as we did!
